      Variation of CAT technique?

Okay, I've been brainstorming for new ways to induce LDs. So, I have no idea if it will work. But I like to get ideas I have "out there" because who knows - maybe it will work, or someone will think of a way to make it work, or someone will just be inspired to think of a new technique. Or someone will prove it doesn't work, in which case my mind is cleared of the issue and I can move on to the next idea.

      CAT:

So, as you probably know, with CAT, you wake yourself up 90 mins early every day for a week and then alternate between pre-CAT wake up time and 90 mins early.

      Technique:

What if...you deliberately tried to interrupt every REM sleep period? (or, perhaps, one a night - don't want to end up a sleep deprived zombie) Maybe interrupt the REM at the same time each night. The idea is, your body/mind comes to expect to be woken during REM. However, what you would do is suddenly STOP interrupting REM one night, and perhaps, maybe, you'd become lucid.

(Incidentally, I've been on DV a couple of weeks now, and I don't think I've seen one thread/post where someone has said they used CAT.)

Interrupting REM is very similar to using a WBTB.

Unfortunately I do not believe REM is based on the body's knowledge of your sleeping pattern, and is more like clockwork; showing up on schedule every 90 min, roughly.

This is why polyphastic sleep works, even though it essentially eliminates REM.

I've used CAT with great success.
      It's definitely worth experimenting with.
WILD CAT fits more with my style of sleep, and so that's what i've used the most.

The 90 minute adjustment btw is just a suggestion by the author and is meant to be experimented with, i've used CAT with lots of variations, and found that for me personally a half hour sleep adjustment works best. With a little thought you can use it without loosing any sleep too.

Experiment with it, hope you get as many lucids out of it as I have in the past. My advice though, is to use the WILD CAT method first, as it is similar to the basic premise of WBTB but with added kick, making it a kind of super-method
