      can anyone help me?

      i'm trying to acheive having a lucid dream for a school project, and when i try all of the tricks and things all the lucid dream sites have said....i never seem to dream, or i never remember to think about the fact that i am dreaming. is there any way i could maybe improve this? any tips, or tricks or pointers that can help me have a lucid dream? all suggestions would be appreciated!

      before you try lucid dreaming it's a good idea to build up your dream recall to at least 1 per night. there are many methods to get yourself to remember dreams, what i've found that works for me is just telling myself that i will remember my dreams tonight over and over until that's all i think about while i fall asleep. it's really helpful to keep a dream journal too. you should also be doin RCs (reality checks) during the day. one way that helps me is getting a watch to go off every hour or every 30 minutes and then do an RC to make sure i'm not dreaming even if i think i'm awake. there are a lot of different kinds of RCs you can do. you can look at the time on your watch, then look away and then look back and see if it still says the same time. umm...you can also look at the sky - i've heard dream skies look really different. if you want to go the route of supplements and food to help you, i've heard that drinking mint tea b/4 bed helps and that you can have really awesome dreams if you eat a big hunk of cheese (cheese doesn't really help w/ lucidity). if you have any more specific questions i'd be glad to help you find an answer. good luck!

      thank you, that was helpful, i think ill try these through out the day today, and test out the tea! its funny you mention a dream journal, that is also a component of my project. if nothing happens, within a week or so, ill let you know, and maybe you can help me when i determine where the real problem is!

      its a graduation requirement to pick a topic and do research on it...basically to prove you can do all of the required components to go on to college..its a load of crap really, because Sedona Arizona is the only place in the United States...wait. the world that does this....so it sucks..but its fun ....it has its advantages as well as its disadvantages....

      i tried cheese...nothing. i drank a mix of chamomile, hibiscus, and mint tea...its the celestial seasonings 'sweet dreams' tea....yeah...nightmare that i couldnt control cuz i was too freaked out by it...so im going to try normal plain peppermint tea...see what happens....

      Have a big Fight With your Significant Other

      I find that having highly stressful fights with my significant other seems to precipitate lucid dreaming. The more distressed I am when I hit the pillow the better.

      I would suggest a 30 minute shouting match about 3 am. Set your alarm and, in advance, see if your partner will help you along by playing your foil for about an hour. The key is this, though: it has to end on a sour note and you have to be sleeping on the couch or somewhere else you wouldn't ordinarily be camped, and you must be feeling very upset, worried about where the heck you're going to be living a week from now.

      By 5 AM you should begin having a lucid dream.

      Hopefully your significant other won't be in it because there's nothing more humiliating than getting kicked out on the street in a lucid dream.

      Oh, yeah, and one more thing: forget that tea business. Even if this is taking place in Sedona, lucid dreaming isn't a meditative function.

      hmm I find when I meditate on a visualised task my recall is MUCH better than if I just pass out, thats just my 2 cents though, and im a crazy person so who knows

      Are we trying to attain lucid dreams or nightmares. I have to disagree with ya dana sounds a little wack. But hey whatever you believe works go with it just be carefull my dreams are mostly peacful exciting adventures. Unless i feel like kicken ass.

      Just a little Fun Hyperbole

      Just having a little fun with hyperbole; however, I have noticed that for some reason, when my stress level is high, and for some reason I have awaken around 4 or so in the morning, I almost invariably have a LD an hour or so afterward.

      I read on a lucidity website some entries that seem to confirm that making your self wake up early in the morning for about an hour will increase the odds considerably.

      I wish I could remember exactly where, but I think it was on www.lucidity.com.

      Okay, so maybe the fighting thing is incidental, but stress may come into play; personally, I think lucid dreaming is less an advance in consciousness than a few wires having gotten crossed and a fuse or two having blown.

      I would be curious to find the incidence of LD in patients with Post Traumatic Syndrome.

      By the way: has anyone else had the experience of lucid sleep walking? If someone's interested, I'll post a description; it was truly unbelievable and felt better physically than anything I've ever experienced!! And the odds of it having occurred were likely near impossible.

      The best of dreams ive ever had have came to me without trying. It seems like the more you try the less chance you will have a lucid dream. At least for me anyway. Try this ...

      Meditation - is relaxing and focusing your mind on nothing. When you lie down at night try meditating but concentrate on things you like and things you want to accomplish. always do this on laying on your back t of the time when i fly im on my back Think about people you love people you don’t like just think of everything. So meditate but dont clear your mind. The idea is to stay away as long as possibe until you are in an aware dream state. Many times you may find yourself paralyzed or frightened but this is normal. This might sound crazy to some but this is how i started practicing lucid dreaming many years ago when i was a teen.

      The idea is to keep thinking and eventually fall asleep with all these thoughts. Stay totally conscious as long as you possibly can stay awake.
      Focus more on staying awake think about your lucid dream your going to have instead of struggling to have one.

      i have had a lucid sleep walking incodent, also, i think you should post a desc. on it.

      and as for amber37 - what danashields says about making your self wake up for an hour early really works. i do that every weekend, w/o trying! you will be quite a bit tired because you are getting up early, so you will slowly wake up. try and eat something or what i do is just watch tv and pet my cats. then you will be tired, a litle bit. when/if you fall asleep this (for me) is usually the deepest and longest part of my sleeping along w/ lucid dreams. i think this is what dana was trying to get at.
