      is this a lucid dream?

some of the articles that i have read about lucid dreaming say that a normal dream is like a tv show or a movie. what ever happens, happens and you have no control over it. none of my dreams are like this in all of my dreams i can control all of my movements, i can reason, sometimes change surroundings, and sometimes i am actually aware that i am dreaming. i will give you an example of one of my normal dreams.

i was in my backyard with my mom at night and i was climbing a fence and a squirrel jumps up and almost bites my face off! i run to the front of my house and run in the door. i shut it and lock it. i run upstairs to my porch and try to turn on my porch light but it seems to be burned out. then i hear i cold, evil, minister, and slow knock at the door. it was the squirrel!! my dad tells me to open the door because it is my mom. i ran over to the porch light trying to get it to work to prove to my dad that a evil squirrel is after me and that my mom is still in the backyard. and then i started to actually started to think, the squirrel must of chewed through the wire earlier so that i couldnt prove to my dad that an evil squirrel was trying to eat my face off. and now i couldn't turn the light on to prove my dad that that wasn't my mom. then i woke up.

who knew a squirrel could be so smart!?!?! now, sireously does this sound like one of your normal dreams or like a lucid dream?

well the light not working is typical for most people when they are in dream, you can use that as a check, so you can determine if you are in fact dreaming.

From what you say it sounds like you are lucid. When you are aware you are dreaming and have full control and such thats the real deal. there are different levels of it though. Like myself I cannot alter my surroundings in a hand of god or a painters easle kind of way I can only change it from what I do just like here, but with different rules and powers, most of the time I am pretty sure its a dream, but I wonder that about right now too

Everyone is wearing the same thing lots of backround static, I cant change any lights, my sense of touch smell and sound are diminished and disoriented the light in general isint right its yellowish... hehe Im not kidding either... I do work in a clean room though, so everyone is wearing white goretex suits I got latex gloves on a helmet that has a vacuume belt pack that messes with my hearing there is a laminar flow of air so you dont smell much of anything the lights are yellow so not to mess up the product, Vision is clear as hell though this is about as clean of a cleanroom as you get 1 particle 1micron in size for every 1x1foot block of air. Ok... NOW im ranting, sorry teehee im tired.

couchman487, it's not a lucid dream unless you KNOW you are dreaming. I have had many dreams in which I had control, but I didn't know I was dreaming.

so you can have plenty of control, but the fact is unless you know you're dreaming, it cannot be called a lucid dream.

and Serinanth, I love your "rant on" "rant off" thing!

Shes right and so are you Serinanth. Use the control like with the lightswitch to start being aware then you will start lucid dreaming more and more. I had a cool dream last night and right at the end i became lucid but i recall most of the dream where i was in full control but hadnt become aware until i started jumping with low gravity.

I agree with you paperdoll, I have had many dreams where I was in control, but not knowing that i was in a dream, its kinda weird, but not really because thats how most dreams are.

      ....er, or are they?
