    1. First attempt at WBTB

      by , 12-05-2012 at 05:35 PM
Last night was the first night ever I tried WBTB. I honestly expected quite a lot, as it has been reported to be an incredibly effective way of achieving lucidity - I won't exaggerate at all by saying I have been tremendously satisfied, even though this was my very first attempt. I could recall a total of three highly vivid and detailed dreams... which were, for the least, tense. Brace yourselves.

N.B.: Those dreams only happened after doing WBTB. I was semi-lucid in all of them; I had the feeling I was in a dream but I didn't always manage to actually realize I had one or take control.

Dream 1: A dream that must well have spanned over an hour. It kicked off in a German class, with me and a bunch of friends being in the classroom where are always held our German lessons. I was sitted at the very front row, a tad on the left. I can't remember much of what we talked about, but I believe everything was pretty normal at that point.

A split second afterwards, the whole dream scene changed into another classroom, which seemingly was one of my school's room that actually exist, but it was reversed in my dream. Our biology and history teachers were present and we were debating about political news in France (and, if I'm not mistaken, about immigration issues). This rather troublesome dude in my class, P.C., was, as usual, pressing his arguments forwards, pretty much ignoring the reactions of both teachers. To his habit of making teachers rather angry, he succeeded once again; my bio teacher had his eyebrows frown and appeared to be slightly pissed off, and so was my history teacher who was resting her hands against a table while she was standing up. I even think my history teacher told me he 'talked without actually knowing the reality of things', something she often points out.

Next on, I end up being in the exam room, where our two weekly exams take place IRL. It actually looked different; although it still had its initial size, it was much more bright due to the addition of massive window panes on either sides of the room (back & front). The room was recently renovated, and they changed pretty much everything; in the dream, there still were the old tables & the old floor, but they were clean, white and neat, whereas the whole place was dirty before. Again, I was sitted at the top front-right row, on the alley side (left-hand side). Besides me, three 12th-graders (exclusively girls, to my knowledge) were completing an empty geography map, somewhat appearing to be a map of Syria.
I took a look at one of their maps, laughed a bit with them, and put myself back to work. At this point, I found myself sitted a bit back; I had moved back by one row and was now sitting on the wall side. A desktop PC, along with a keyboard and a mouse, had appeared on the table; I thought: "Hey, this is cool, I'm going to use it!". What I didn't realize was that I was in the middle of a history exam - thus, as soon as I began typing to google something on Internet Explorer, one of my best friends which was sitted to my left turned his head towards me and said: "I don't think we're allowed to do that.. I can hear keystrokes". Right then, my history teacher, who was watching us all as we were taking the exam (she shouldn't have been here - we always supervisors to keep an eye on us, but teachers are not allowed to do it). She suddenly turned her head and started shouting violently at me, asking whether I was dumb, and telling that using a computer during an exam was strictly forbidden. Meanwhile, I misclicked and accidentally closed the Internet browser (OR it might have unwillingly shut itself down). I bit my bottom lip as I initially planned to use it to show my teacher I was not searching anything related to history; then a blonde gal (A.B.), in my IRL class, shouted back at my teacher and whole-heartedly said I actually did not do so. Needless to say, my teacher ignored her, and the head-of-supervisors (S.B.) came into the exam room. My history teacher eventually told me I was going to be thrown out of school after being reviewed by a disciplinary panel, then I was ordered to leave and follow S.B., but I noticed that I soon as I stood up, the sky adopted a dark, purple shade. The exam room itself also had been shortened; seemingly, a lot of the back rows had been cut out and the entrance door was much closer to my table than it previously was. While getting out of the exam room, I screamed: "Fuck this! I didn't even fucking cheat! I can't abandon my fucking class representative position!" - and I glared at everyone with an anger-filled gaze. We then headed out, into the schoolyard.

Due to the colour of the sky, I would be tempted to assume it was a mid-spring evening, at around 7-8PM. Still devastated, I implored S.B. to help me out, though she only told me the final decision was not her choice but the disciplinary panel's one. All of a sudden, as we walked a few steps further, the sky turned bright, sunny and cloudless, and it revealed the tall apartment complex that faces both the schoolyard and the high school's main building (it exists IRL); a small fence separated the yard from the outter side of the building. In front of the fence stood a lengthy flower bed, and besides it appeared a small stream, which was shadowed upon by not-so-imposing trees. S.B. passed the flower bed then crossed the stream, eventually jumping above the fence, thus making her way in the building yard; she looked up at the windows, seemingly seeking a precise one. She quickly and vigorously shuffled to her right, stopping at a re-entrant corner which I saw from her perspective, while, I assume, I stayed in the schoolyard. From there on, she yelled "David, come here!" and some Edward Norton-looking guy sticked his head through an open window, at the third or fourth floor.

Surprisingly, I put myself in David's shoes as soon as he was called by S.B. I found myself locked in a tiny dark room while I was looking straight ahead, glaring at the sky through an open window; I felt another one was behind me, which would have been the one through which David had shown himself to S.B., but I refrained myself from turning around. A sure thing, though, is that I was exhausted and slightly dizzy. Out of nowhere - or, I speculate, the hallway that would have led to the room -, I heard men shouting: "Go, go, go, he's here, catch him, go!". For some reason, I knew they had to be looking for me. Although a panic wave crossed my body, I did not hesitate a single second before climbing onto that window. I saw a yard filled with fresh, green grass, which was blocked ahead by a wooden fence. I jumped out and started running. The way I was running was extremely strange; I couldn't turn right or left, as my body was being blocked by my left brain hemisphere (and I felt it). The only way I could steer was to move backwards, which moved me a bit further onto my right side everytime I took a step. Meantime, I was running through this magnificient yet massive yard, I saw tons of flowers, mainly red and yellow tulipaes, but my drowsiness and my fatigue badly affected me. I heard footsteps besides me and even though I kept running, I came to a full halt when a special agent appeared behind. He looked exactly the same way as those countless agents seen in American action films, but if I specifically had to describe him, I would say he was a mix between Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer, 24) and Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother). Withdrawing his pistol from its holster, he started shooting at me.

The landscape transformed in a green valley while I was dodging one by one the bullets shot by the agent. Upon having nearly finished his magazine, he only had one round left, and I shouted out: "Let's see who's the fucking man, gimme that fucking gun!". I did not really expect him to do it either, but he nevertheless executed the order. I spinned onto my heels and the gun changed into a massive, bulky arrow, while a horse ridden by a knight in a fancy, exotic flashy yellow-blue-purple carnival outfit ran in front of my eyes. I forcefully threw the arrow at the horse and it struck him down, thus resulting in the horse and the knight falling down onto the ground, both dead. I walked to the knight's corpse and looked over my shoulder at the agent; "Who's the fucking man, now?". That was enough for him to crumple down and die instantly.

Finally, in the last chunk, I spawned in an extremely tiny room. It had a particular design - the walls, the ceiling and even the floor were made of black and white glowy squares. The best similarity that comes up to my mind is those squares on dancing pads that are used on old arcade games machines. Two of my friends stood alongside me; E.C. on the left and H.C. on my right. H was 'inflating' his head and making funny jokes about his 'big' head, while E was a bit scared but still found it amusing and laughed at it. The dream eventually faded.

Dream 2: This one was a stressful dream. I'll try to keep it relatively short.

Sitting at my desk, I was casually browsing on Internet when my mom bursted into the hallway, rambling around and holding a syringe: "Look at what I've found in your brother's room! He's not even hiding anymore that he fucking shoots himself. There also is the protective cap." The effect of surprise turned into massive worrying on my side, but I already suspected my brother was into 'hard' drugs prior to this event. I think that my brother was hanging out with some friends in his bedroom when my mom went there, or it might have been after they had left. Anyhow, I found myself in my school's exam room (once again...) on a bright and sunny day. There were a few parents, as it seems a conference was going on. I stood up and left the room, thus reaching the middle school playground. My brother was waiting for me at the exit; the sky was sort of orange (as if someone had put an mild orange filter). While exposed parts, such as the playground, were perfectly enlightened by the sun, the slope besides it, which in real life is also bright if the weatheris sunny, were shadowy. My goal there was to bring my brother to the medical room. As soon as we met, he told me he wasn't in his normal state. My mom told me that I shouldn't explicitly declare to my brother I knew he was taking crack, so I refrained from doing that and instead act as a surprised kiddo, but I didn't tell much either. As we were midway down the slope, we entered the hallway that led to the medical room, but it was simply dark. My brother felt he could not make it through the hallway, so I left him a bit behind while he stopped. As I was about to open the door at the end of the hallway, that leads to a staircase, I noticed one of my friends was walking nearby as if we wanted to go somewhere together. Upon opening the door, I saw a black sports teacher - or so I assume; in my dream, I thought he was an elementary school teacher, as there was a whole class of kids behind him. He was grinning at me with an absolutely weird stare, overall looking like a scary smiley smiling. At that point, I did a reality check. I tried to push my finger through my palm, but it failed; as my 'friend' told me to be careful, I attempted to block my nose and to breathe at the same time, but I felt my breathe was either getting blocked or going through. All this confusion led to the loss of the scene. However, I reappeared in a sort of classy, party club lounge, with a huge carpet and immense sofas set on each side of it. At first, my brother and I were among the few people who were present, but additional persons arrived, filling up the gaps. Everyone was talking, and there were some old people (grannies especially) in the first place, who were replaced by young adults or teenagers as people came in. My brother lied back in one of the sofas, passively glaring at the whole scene.

Dream 3: This dream stopped pretty quickly, as my alarm rang a bit after it had started. All I remember is that I was in Africa, in the back shop of some clothes store; I needed to get an avocado, for some reason. It turns out the African woman, wearing a traditional African dress along with a bandana, with whom I was, could not find any; I managed to find two but they were old and tough as rock. She then told me she had apples and I told her I was fine with that, considering I could replace avocados with apples for what I wanted to do. She showed me a gigantic pear/apple that was about two meters tall... this didn't even make me blink. As I spotted a few Asians entering the main store, my alarm rang and I woke up.

    2. A stressful night...

      Non-lucid | Lucid | Extra notes

That wasn't quite a good night. My dad was snoring and I couldn't manage to focus on repeating my mantras while falling asleep, but I do remember a few dream fragments. All of them are non-lucid, and might not necessarily be in the order in which they happened.

Dream Fragment #1: I'm sitting at the dining table in my living room with two friends, A and P, and the first also brought his sister. For some reason, I thought we stood as the only guitarists in my school and that we were the "guitarists' club"; I remember turning myself towards a table (that does actually exist) to grasp onto something but the dream either faded away or I can't remember more than that.

Dream/Dream Fragment #2: This one is longer than the first one. I basically dreamed of having a work experience in some kind of Paris' suburbs, working if I can recall well enough in a laboratory or a research center. First of all, I was in a dark, hotel-looking room, and I could see a road through the window. Moments later, I found myself in a bus, making my way back towards Paris, then some three or four friends of mine (including C), whom sat almost next to me, started talking to me and said we'd be late by more than one hour for our next class, considering the school was far away from the laboratory. However, we arrived in a courtyard shortly after she'd said that and I saw two, if not more, other friends (A, and P from dream #1). A was walking on a fence, laughing and shouting while P might have stood below A on the ground. Here's the end of the dream or it is at least all I can remember.

I know for a fact that those two dreams were the last ones I had this night, as I struggled to fall asleep and kept moving in my bed due to being uncomfy. I might seriously use earplugs at night, considering that'd help to avoid hearing my dad's snoring.
