Attempting to recall dreams on a day to day basis

Brief(ish) bio of sleep/dreams to get me started.

My dream recall is absolutely awful, I haven't been able to remember a dream in months, but hopefully I'll begin remembering more. I have a dreadful sleeping pattern, its not much of a pattern as it is completely random - I sometimes stay awake for up to 60 hrs at a time and sleep anywhere between 2 - 17hrs. Again with an ambition for lucid dreaming hopefully I should be able to sort this out.

As a child I used to lucid dream a lot, and often changed dreams at will or wake up from a dream through rubbing my eyes in my sleep. Lucid dreams commonly occurred for me at my last REM cycle, and often when there was a lot of light in my room. I used to love lucid dreams as they were always hysterically happy. But I haven't had a lucid dream in about 3 years.

Night time and falling asleep is a genuinely scary event for me, I'm super paranoid, and NEED to have my boyfriend help me relax and for him to be awake as I fall asleep and for the television to be on constantly.
Even though I can't remember my dreams for the past few months I am certain I haven't had a nightmare in years, and the only dreams close were mildly chilling, or just a little upsetting.

My next few posts will probably be about the most vivid and important dreams I have had, until I can begin to recall current dreams.
