I've only posted here once before, and it was regarding my issues with becoming lucid, despite having been a very regular lucid dreamer. Well, last night, I finally had a short burst of lucidity, but I'm kind of uncomfortable with how this came about, and I'm wondering what you think it might mean. In the dream (before I became lucid), I saw what I recognized as my subconscious. It was in a corner and trapped inside some rubbery balloon-like cocoon. I was still asleep, so I don't remember my intentions, but I remember feeling furious. I picked up a brick and frantically beat the rubber cocoon until it turned to glass and shattered. At that moment, I became lucid for just a second, and then I woke up. This sounds stupid, but I'm not sure if my intentions while I was asleep were to free my subconscious from the cocoon, or to beat the @!%^ out of it. Either way, it was a jarring experience, and it's been on my mind, all day. What are your thoughts? Have you ever seen your subconscious in your dreams? Ever had a similar experience? |

The WHOLE dream is your subcouncious. Scenery, characters. everything is your subconcious. |
Interesting. What did your subconscious look like? How was it reacting to being imprisoned? Was it fighting to get free, angry, frightened? None of the above? How did you feel upon seeing it trapped? And upon hitting/freeing it? |
It looked like me, but it was one of those things where you just know what it is. It was struggling to get free, and it did look scared. I didn't get a chance to feel much of anything before I woke up. I just suddenly became lucid for a second, and then woke up for real. |
Maybe you're afraid to free your subconscious? Or afraid that you might damage it by lucid dreaming somehow? |
Not a control freak at all. I've been struggling with depression and feeling mentally kind of "foggy". I was actually hoping lucid dreaming might help me feel better. Actually, maybe that's what this was about- feeling like I can't think clearly during the day, and struggling to break out of that. Thanks for talking with me about it. It's always easier to figure things out when you have someone to trigger ideas |
Yeah I was just casting about in the dark, groping for possibilities and that was the first thing that came to mind. Ok, well, glad I could help in some way! Now that you busted that sucker loose, have a blast!! |
Thanks Have fun, too! |
I will if I can ever get lucid again. Still got that brick handy? |
Ha! I know, right? There were some good suggestions made to me when I got stuck. None of them worked for me, but maybe they will work for you. It's here, if you wanna take a look: http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/what-e...7/#post1721225 |

Like the above said, your entire dream are bits of your subconscious a lot of lucid dreamers believe looking in mirrors in dreams is a good way to view your subconscious. More importantly your dreams are made up of something called schemata. A schema (schemata plural) is your most primal thought to anything. So if you see a pencil, if you are a student you may think of a desk, or maybe school. It's all subjective but that's probably the best way of looking at this. |

I'm always happy.
You can dream of flying, even though people don't really fly. You can dream of something that you recognize as your subconscious even if your subconscious isn't an actual physical thing. I dreamt of something that when I looked at it, I thought, "Yes, that is my subconscious." |
