      Authority figures in dreams?

Half of all of my non-lucid dreams involve escaping from authority figures. Be it museum guards or a full-fledged prison break. Also, most of the time I'm successful, and if I'm with group of people, chances are are I'm the only one that will make it.

I have no idea what's causing these dreams. They're not even the standard "run away and hide from something" dreams; they involve strategy and risky execution. The reason I find them strange is because there's always an uncomfortable feeling that comes with it and also because I know I'm not the kind to hide from things when on the run but rather to confront. Also most of the time I'm on my own and can't trust anybody because they screw stuff up or get caught.

I really don't like being the "criminal" in my dreams even if it's just mall cops and would very much prefer ones with a different plot. Any thoughts?

Authority figures are likely to be archetypal DCs and probably relate to our early experiences of parents, teachers etc. Unless we have experience of e.g. the army I guess. I would suggest trying to be aware of that same fantasy during waking hours. It's probably very subtle but it will be there. The more you become aware of unconscious stuff, the less likely it is to affect your dreams.
