      Taking a break

I think it's time for me to take a break from trying to LD. For the past few days I've just been going around in circles trying to decide what techniques to do and then ending up trying to do all of them and not being successful and getting frustrated. Tried to start doing All Day Awareness a few days ago, and my god, it's overwhelming as all hell...I can hardly focus on my surroundings for 30 seconds, let alone 24/7. My dream recall is down the drain too...I used to get hand cramps from writing because my dreams were so visually detailed and long. Now I remember very short snippets, if even that. And on top of all that, I have to deal with real life stuff. So, I'm just going to step back for a few days and take a breather. I bought a new laptop that arrives tomorrow, so I'll probably start using that as a dream journal when I start practicing again. And I'll just do All Day Awareness is 1 or 2 minute chunks, I guess, because baby steps are better than no steps at all. Sorry, I know that was long......needed to vent.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

May be good to do. You dont know how many posts I have read where people gave up or took a break and THEN had an LD while not trying. I cant figure out the exact mechanism for lucid dreaming (although I have had hundreds) but I know you cant force it through you will or stressing over it. It is a very light intent that seems to work. Recently my LDs have all been Friday night / Saturday morning (and EVERY week, not just sometimes). I think stress of work is over and it just happens. Dony TRY to LD. Your mind now knows you want to. So just relax and let it happen.

This will probably most likely help you if you do take a short break man. Like rothgar said, people really do tend to have LDs when not trying. I remember a while back when I took a break for two weeks or so I literally had around an LD every night for a week or two, then after that it stopped and I got back to the grind.
