      new colors?

Has anyone ever seen a completely NEW color in their dreams? im not talking about a shade, but independent from the RBG scale. Im just interested if it would even be possible for our brains to conceive. An interesting thought.

No, but that would be cool.
Come on! What if Martin Luther King said: "I kinda have a dream... nah, I don't wanna talk about it."

Doubt that our minds could do that! I think that that is beyond us as humans, I can't see that happening.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

Seems kinda out of it to me. Think about it. We have main colors. We have colors that branch off of that. Colors that branch off the branching colors. Then we have different shades of that color. Then mixing colors gets different colors aswell. I don't think it is possible. Good thought though. Maybe someone could try to conjure up a new color in their dreams, if it is possible.

I know it seems weird, and probably is not possible but i just think, what if we are missing a color. How cool would that be? more of a thought than an actual question.

Another one of my goals. I think I might have, but I wouldn't be able to remember what it looked like, and it would be impossible to describe.

I would love to hear about this though, if someone attempted it. Please do let me know if you tried!

It's impossible for the brain to think of a completely new color.

Because, we have never experienced any colors but the ones on the Roy G Biv

My physics teacher told me that, if you could see other forms of Electromagnetic Light, you would see a totally new color. But we cant see that stuff so we dont have the experience in order to see them in our dreams

So, there are other colors out there, humans just can't see them?

yeah, like if you could see UV light, or X-rays, they would be a totally different color, but we just simply cant see the light with our eyes

Yes, but we don't use our eyes when we sleep. So until our eyes evolve to the point where we can see ultraviolet and infrared, we're stuck with visible light. That doesn't necessarily mean we can't see imaginary colours in our dreams. It would just be really hard.

Well, i challenge you to make up another color in your mind. I know you cant prove to me whether or not you did it, but i am 100% sure that you cannot create another color inside of your own mind. Its impossible, i've tried it before. The only colors the mind creates are just shades of colors that already exist, instead of totally new colors.

That's one of my lucid goals. I can't do it when I'm awake, but I'll try tonight.

Pink/Magenta is a color that only exists in our minds. What the above posters are saying seems to make sense, but we would have to develop a new way of seeing that doesn't involve light refraction.

Im gonna have to agree with Hercuflea here i dont think that our minds can make anything except shades of already exsisting colors

It would be very interesting. I have thought about this before, although I doubt it could happen.
