Talking First Steps Into Lucid Dreaming

I first got into lucid dreaming after watching a film called Waking Life which is a really great film set from the perspective of someone who is having a series of lucid dreams. At that time, my sister also told me that she had had some lucid dreams and thus the quest to be a lucid dreamer began.

My first (and only) LD came when I was having a dream in which my boyfriend, my sister and I were sneaking into a rich house just to have a look. We were in the hall way when suddenly we heard the owners coming home. I freaked out and told everyone to run and we started running, the only problem was I was running in slow motion in the crouch position. I was trying so hard to go as fast as I could but I was trapped in this strange state. Then suddenly I realized that this absolutely never happens in real life - no matter how unfit you are! That's when I realized it was a dream! Slowly I started to bring myself up and moveing a little faster but then I woke up.

That was a while ago - lately I have been getting into it again. I have started a Dream Journal, and I have had two dreams in which I have questioned whether or not it was a dream (always with a no). My dreams have also been a lot more vivid and I remember them a lot better.

I am feeling like I am getting closer to having a decent LD.

Looking forward to learning more about Lucid Dreaming!

      boondoggle!

It sounds like you are on the right track there. Just remember to put a lot of attention to reality checks and don't just automatically dismiss them.

We'll be here if you need any help.

      Welcome to DV!

Keep up the journalling, and Xanous said, practice reality checks in waking life, and put more though behind them. When i say put more thought, i mean when you ask yourself if you're dreaming, dont just say yes or no. Try to question why, and how sure you are, etc. That way, you will also have the same mindset in dreams, and hopefully the next time you RC in dreams, you will not dismiss it so easily

Good luck, and if you need anything, feel free to ask. Seeya

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
