      First Lucid Dream in years!

I stumbed across this site about a week ago. I have always been interested in lucid dreaming as I had a few lucid dreams when I was much younger.

Last night I had my first lucid in years. It was really short. I don't remember the part that led up to when I was lucid, but I remember I was backing out through a door to the outside. I think I was trying to get away from something. And at some point right when I got out the door I realized I was dreaming and I said to myself in the dream "I'm dreaming" and then jumped and took off into the air (imagine the scene from the end of the first Matrix where Neo takes off upward). I was outside on some island type setting and there was a beach and ocean (all kind of fuzzy). I got really exited right when I realized I was dreaming, so I tried spinning. I closed my eyes (in my dream) and everything went black and then I tried to spin but it didn't really feel like I was moving. Then when I opened my eyes I was awake.

Even though it was so short, that few seconds of realizing I did it was awesome! I can't wait to keep trying.

Yup, sounds good! Think about LDing during the day, be sure to check your surroundings, and keep it up, and you'll get there more often.

I think that was what did it. I have been thinking about LDing more now because I found this site so it popped into my head while I was asleep. The feeling of hitting lucidity was amazing. I really felt like I "woke up" inside my dream. Next time I just have to be sure to keep my exitement down.

Congrats! Yes, I've seen plenty of times that thinking and talking about lucid dreaming make you have more lucid dreams. The more motivated you are, the more likely you are to have success.

Congratulations! That's really cool. I know what you mean. I'm still thrilled. even when I get a small taste of Lucidity. It's such a great feeling isn't it.

I'm sure there will be more to come. Good luck, and Welcome to Dream Views!

Semantics.. But, sure you did have your first for years? What if you have had them every night all these years, but just now recalled it? Having forgotten that you forgot the other ones..

What did you do different, than you have done the last year? I bet it is your focus on it.. And that trying, only will get in the way of what you are doing..

Thanks guys. Just this morning I almost had another one. I "woke up" in my dream and came out to my living room. My room clock said it was 5:15pm which was oddly late to wake up. I did call in sick this morning so I thought maybe I just slept all day and was really tired. But when I got out into my living room there was my roommate and some people I didn't know hanging out there. I looked at my phone clock and it said 1:15pm or something and I looked at another phone and I think it said 3:15pm. I tried the trick of looking at a clock to see if it changed time but these never did. They always showed the same time but each one had a different time. I actually remembered reading a post on hear about waking up inside dreams so I almost called out "I'm dreaming" but because there were other people hanging out there and I wasn't sure if I was dreaming yet I didn't do it. Then a minute later I woke up in bed.

@G0MPgomp: Honestly whats the difference between not having them in years and having them but not remembering them. To me that would be the same. Of course I can't tell if I've been having them but not remembering them. But now I am remembering and I am using tricks I read about here to make them happen. And yes, like I said in my earlier post I am probably remembering them because I'm thinking about it more because of reading this site.

Exactly! The only difference, is ones choice!
