      Nightmare stories

I've been having nightmare stories for the last couple of years. They are different each time and are completely random, locations I remember from video games to real life to locations i've never seen in my life. It can be about anything from just being a basic murder horror story to some weird stuff i've never even thought about like recently I dreamed about a virus that spread around that made people kill the people closest to them whenever they see them. The story is really detailed and is like a movie, I forget what happened in it a few hours after I had the dream but I have this almost always, I can't remember having a normal happy dream and it's really starting to bother me, it got to the point of waking up scared as hell in the middle of the night. I've looked everywere but I found nothing on these kinds of dreams. I'm thinking about going to a psychiatrist but i don't know if that will help.

There can be many causes, but it's something that has been consistent the last couple of years. Have you been on any medication? Have you come to expect or fear nightmares before going to bed? Are you sleeping in a clean and comfortable environment? Are you getting enough sleep? Has your waking life been stressful?

Remove what's uncomfortable mentally and physically and the nightmares will go away.

The only thing I know is that my life's been stressful, other things aren't really a problem.

That's definitely the cause of the of your nightmares, then.

I recommend trying to get to the bottom of why you're stressed during the day. The reasoning behind the stress is very important as it's the root. You won't stress if you don't have a reason too! Work out the reasoning and try to resolve it. That's what's you're subconsciously doing when you're having nightmares at night. If you resolve the stress during the day, you won't have anymore nightmares at night.

I'm sure you could do this on your own, but if you can't, a psychiatrist will be able to help.
