      Questions about Everyman's schedule

I've been interested in polyphasic sleep for awhile, but Uberman's schedule was never practical for me and I hadn't done enough research to hear about Everyman's schedule until recently. I would like to give it a try, but there is less information available on it regarding how to schedule the naps and had a few questions.

I've been unable to find much of a pattern in the scheduling of the naps. I know with Uberman's it works best if they're taken at the same intervals. Does this hold true with Everyman's as well? Is there any relationship between the sleep times that seems to work best (for example, 5 hours between the core sleep and the first nap and 6 hours between each nap)?

I have college classes throughout most of the day (my free times are something like 12:40-1:50, before 11:25 am, and after 9:05 pm), so I'm trying to figure out a schedule that will work with those. My classes vary from day to day, so I'm wondering if I have to pick a schedule that will work with every day. Do the naps have to take place at the same time every day as they do with Uberman's?

My tentative schedule (depending on what you guys think about the above questions) is: 4-7am (core sleep) and naps at 10:45, 1 pm, and 9:15 pm. I would rather do 4:30 to 7:30 or 5-8 for my core sleep, but I think that might be a little too close to my first nap. Any thoughts?

I too have just become interested in polyphasic sleep. I came across Steve Pavlina's experience with the Uberman sleep schedule, and it has a lot of useful info about it. He had success without keeping to a strict napping schedule, but for the adaption phase, he did stay with the strict napping times.

For my fall classes, my schedule works out where I can have the same nap times each day because of breaks in between class, so I planned my nap times around that.

I think in the beginning, it's more important to to schedule your naps than after you have the hang of things. As for location, from what I've gathered, it doesn't matter where you sleep, just that you do.

I think the 1:00 - 9:15 pm stretch might be tough, but I'd say give it a shot and see if it works for you before abandoning it. You can always change the times later.

I've read Pavlina's blog, but it's more focused on the Uberman schedule, along with most of the online material I've found. I've heard Everyman is more flexible, but I'm still trying to understand to what extent.

As for the 1 - 9:15 stretch, I'm going to try 1:15 - 9 instead (the 9pm class is a lab, so I should get out earlier enough for that to work and still have a few weeks until I start anyway). That's just under 8 hours, so hopefully it will be ok. The only alternative is having different schedules on different days, since my 9pm class is only one day a week.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot more about the Uberman than the Everyman schedule. I've heard you can shift around the times with the Everyman schedule by an hour in either direction. The way I see it, if Pavlina was able to vary his nap times significantly and still have success, then there should be no problems doing the same with the Everyman schedule, as it's supposed to be more flexible.
