I think you should sketch out an outline before you start the drawing proper.

Yeah, some of the proportions look a little inflated, huh?

Yeah, the chin and facial features are pretty askew... if you were going for realism. I always start with a rough outline of where the eyes, nose, and mouth are going, then I do the jawline, and the side at top of the head. Then you start properly.

Some of that is because some of my features are pretty rigid. But, for example, the chin is off center. So yeah.
