“Why am I here” I wondered to myself, “why did I feel the need to be a hero” I asked myself as I walked down the dark dank steps of the castle which I assumed lead to the dungeon. I looked a head of me but could only see so far by the single torch that the guard in front of me held. I wondered at how long we had been walking down these stairs and if they would ever end. I then stole a glance back at the cruel eyes of the guard behind me who was eliminated by the torch one of the guards held and knew there would be no begging my way out of this. Finally at long last I saw the last step and reached the bottom. The guard in front of me turned to the right and walked past grubby looking cells so dark inside that I could not see into them. The guard in front of me then turned toward one of these cells and said “come here take a good look inside”. Not wanting to but knowing I had to obey I stepped toward him. I looked at they poor creature that I knew used to be human in the corner of the cell. From what I could tell it was male and had a pale complexion. He was extremely thin and looked like a living skeleton, I held my mouth as an over whelming smell of urine reached my nostrils. I shuddered and seeing my reaction to the prisoner one the guards cruelly chuckled behind me. “This will be your fate soon enough” the guard behind me hissed. The guard in front of me then turned away from the cell “come on” he said “your cell is further down”. I found myself being slightly relieved by what the guard had said I did not want to be in prison with that thing back in that cell. The guards continued on ward further and further, making many twists and turns. I was dismayed I had hoped to escape and follow they way I came back to freedom but there was no hope of that now, I was completely and hopelessly lost. Finally, after what seemed like forever we reached this cell with a metal door and a small slot at the top for eyes and small slot at the bottom for a food tray to go through. The guard behind in front of me stopped and took out his keys, he searched though several before stopping a grasping a single key. He took it in his hands and put into the doors keyhole and turned. I heard a distinct unlocking of a bolt and the guard took hold of the door handle and pulled the door open. I stepped back a little to avoid being hit by the door. The guard held open the door and made a mock bow gesture as his arm went forward motioning me toward the inside of the cell. “Welcome to your humble abode, my lady” he sneered. Calmly refusing to let them see the tears that seemed ready to fall I stepped inside and as I did I head the door close behind me with slight bang as I heard a not to reassuring locking of a bolt behind me. I then clasped onto my knees and wept bitterly as i thought "so this is how it ends for the great Diamond". After while I stopped and looked around at the darkness it was so dark in here, I could almost feel the darkness suffocating me. I felt that it almost had a consciousness and started to panic. Quickly I pinched myself and took deep breaths I had to calm down it was just darkness nothing more, I had to keep my cool. Even though I felt myself calming down I still not shake the otter hopelessness I felt.
