      My Random Poetry

Joshua "The Lord Is My Salvation"

The toys lain about the soggy ground
Previously colorful plastics and smiling friends
Drip sadness into the gloomy morning air.

      A grove of weeping willows
We huddle under great black umbrellas
As the cold wind singes our skin.

Reflecting upon the tiny white box
That floats through a sea of tears
      From the saddened heavens

Little pharaoh in the golden crib
Rocked to sleep by the hand of God
Fly to the outstretched arms of Granny.

      "Baptism"

Tightening the grasp around my wrist
      Damning the acid that burns
      From my veins
And scorches holes into the porcelain tub

Sable drops into a scarlet bath
Settling in thick pools of stillness
Tried so hard to get rid of you
      Nothing left but me

      I notice that
Your blood flows thicker in me
      Than my own
      As I watch you seep
      From my wrist

      "Ode to Spontaneous Curiosity"

She lifted the brand new piece of chalk
      Up to her face
Glaring at it with evil eyes
      Pondering its roundly perfect form
Before popping it into her mouth.
      The bitter sweetness seeped
Into every crevice of her tongue
As her teeth mashed each bit
      Into a thousand gritty fragments
She giggled at the thought of it
As a puffy cloud of smoke
      Choked from her mouth
She ground the chalk more and more
Trying not to experience its biting flavor
      That now invaded every crevice
Of every tooth in her mouth.
Squinting her eyes and clenching her fists
Staring at her reflection in the mirror
Having enough, she raised an eyebrow at herself
And swished the grains around in her cheeks.
She leaned up against the porcelain sink
Puckering her lips and excreting the gooey
      White mess with her tongue
In alternating thrusts of gobs and smoothness
Till the lustrous sink was coated
In a mouthful of milky paste.
      She ran the cold water
      And rinsed out her mouth
      Grabbed a towel
      And grinned at her reflection,
The impulsive curiosity of a seven year old
      Once again satisfied
      … for now

I liked this one, have you actually eaten chalk? surely there's no way you could describe a thing in such detail unless you'd actually done it?
My english teacher used to say 'you can only write what you know.'

Haha...no I never ate chalk. Although I always wanted to and always wondered what it would be like. I was always having the urges to eat weird things when I was younger (like the paste from first grade)...but I usually wouldn't. haha.

i did that too...i alwys used to wonder what powder paint tasted like after i'd mixed it...it smelled nice!
and once, when i was really little, my parents used to threaten to wash my mouth out with soap if i used bad words. So before they ever got the chance, i decided one morning to taste it, to see if it was good or bad. I didn't actually eat it, i just licked it, but ewww!! never again, it tastes disgusting. No wonder they threatened me with it.
