Most of these pictures were taken in BC and Alberta in the days/weeks following my stepfathers death.

Thanks! Yes, some photos are altered. Mostly filters like B/W, Sepia etc or crops/frames. As far as the one you posted, I think I cropped it, desaturated it and added a black frame.

They look good, not overly done like I see some photos. I want to start getting familiar with how to use all the alterations. I used photoshop before, but that just seemed like a confusing mess lol.

If You are referring to the first two photos in my post you are incorrect.

Thanks! It takes a bit of practice to not go overboard. In some photos (Cat Face for example) I put on a little stronger for atmosphere.

Anyway, the photos are fine, but a little boring. Your abuse of obscene vignetting and wild filters covers it all up very nicely though. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Anyways, neither of those have fake grain. If I recall correctly, they were both taken with low light (at dusk) and were altered with HDR software which pulled a lot of grain.

EDIT: Also, these were all taken on my phone... which explains the grain and vignetting that you are seeing.
