Start of A pic im making (3D image)

      http://img56.imageshack.us/my.php?image=render5md.jpg

this is just the start of the pic... I’m still learning blender (its extremely complicated) and I’m going to be updating this image as I learn more about blender and its functions.

(note: the image is actually a building [yes its a building] from a dream I recently had)[/url]

...what disagreement are we having? You put something in your sig that was rude and I didn't do anything to deserve that...seriously I don't get what the hell your problem is...

      Anyways...

I use cinema 4D...I've never heard of blender but just from the looks of what you've done so far it kinda looks like some low end 3d gaming type software...I'm totally clueless about it but most 3D programs work the same so I could probably still help if you needed it.

nope, actually like i said all i can do right now is use basic shapes and stuff, heres a link to what real people that use the program right can do:

      http://blender3d.org/cms/Images.151.0.html

plus its totally free for the full version

Oh hey cool that program actually reminds me a bit of Cinema 4D in what it can do and all minus the hefty pricetag (although Cinema is well worth the price because of all the additional features and stuff ). I really didn't have any strictly 3D classes in my major, I pretty much had to teach myself everything I know. So yeah my suggestion to you is to just mess around with it a LOT and really become familiar with everything it can do. I've been using Cinema for like 3 years and have taught myself everything I know pretty much and I still have only touched the surface. Anyway if you need any tips on specific modeling techniques...lighting, texturing...anything, I'd love to help.

      And good luck

It's beginner's work. I don't think you can actually have an opinion on beginner's work, because they haven't learned enough about how to use the program to actually make 'works of art'

And by the way saying something like this:

could everyone please keep this thread clean, in other words only post about the pic (im not looking for how to make it better atm because this is just the start, although i will be needing judgement at a later time when im more done with it.[/b]
Is kinda defeating the purpose of having put the picture on here. Because if you're like that, then all you wanna hear from people is "That's good" and nothing else. Which is, essentially, useless. You could line up thousands of people to judge your work like that, and it wouldn't change anything. Whereas if you get advice, then you at least know what you're doing right/wrong. And with the opening of advice, you won't get robotic responses of "That is good. I like the artwork." or "That is bad, I do not like the artwork."

If you want robotic, and useless, responses like that, then type it into a text to speach engine and it'll give you same response.

ok I added some texture on the grass as an experiment but something about it doesn’t look right to me, I was wondering if someone that has used a 3d program before could tell me if I’m on the right track, or if its going to look really bad once I get done.
(note: no, I haven’t been working on a grass texture for a month now I just started working on it again.)

      You're using Blender, right?
I think its just that the texture isn't scaled proportionally to the rest of the picture. The grass looks too "big" to be seen from as far away as the camera is positioned. It's hard for me to remember how to fix this without actually looking at the program, being at work, but I think If you highlight the grass plane, go to Edit mode, and go to the Texture icon, there should be a button window at the bottom that shows like X = This number Y = This number, and it will say Minimum and Maximum something or other. Usually they are all set to either 0.000 or 1.000 when you start off. (I hope you can find what I"m talking about) If you go to the Minimum field, and set it to like -3.000 instead of 0.000 for both the X and Y axis, this should make the scale for the grassy plane smaller, so that instead of seeing One image of the grass texture on the plane, you'll see Many of them, just made smaller, so more Full grass textures fill up the plane that you're using for grass. This should make the details of the grass much smaller, and sharper, when you render it.
However, if the texture you're using isn't Tileable, meaning it is not symmetrical, and can't be duplicated seamlessly over and over, you will see a grid of your grassy, repeating texture on the field, instead of the illusion of one smooth, high-resolution, grassy surface, and it won't look realistic.

Hope this helps ...or even makes sense, for that matter. Lol.

      Hehe. Sorry, man.
Do the same thing with the sidewalk, and maybe scale the grass down just a little bit more. The building looks like it would be a pretty big structure. Is it?
Also, on the sidewalk, maybe you want to make tiny seperations between the tiles of sidewalk, so each one kinda stands out individually? That might give it more the feel of having been laid down in sections.

heres a newer virsion of the old one:

      http://img400.imageshack.us/my.php?image=r...=render76ja.jpg

and heres a new thing i think ill go with so that the building doesnt seem so small:

      http://img400.imageshack.us/my.php?image=r...=render84nq.jpg

      ----------------

I really like my sidewalk it was meant to be the center- piece... although i am going to work on making it more realistic, im also thinking about just totally taking the building out of it and making it a park.... but im not sure, ill post more soon

Hey...where does the sidewalk start because you can see in the building's reflection where it starts. Is that right? Maybe you could add an environmental fog element that makes objects at a certain distance sort of blur out like a dream and that way you wouldn't be able to see where the sidewalk ends in that reflection.

edit: also the texturing of the sidewalk noticeably tiles

ah, yes ill work on the sidewalk a bit, and also i was going to make it where there was a parking lot at the end of the sidewalk (forgot to mention it sorry ) also i had no idea that there was ablurr feature... ty for mentioning it i will probably blurr past the parking lot

any ideas on how to make the tiling less noticable?

      Lookin pretty good, man.

Might I suggest adding another light source off to the right side of the building? (as if you're facing the building) Maybe a light, atmospheric, blue so that you can offset the heavy shadow from the building?

      Only critiques, never complaints! 8)

It's looking really good, only thing I've nocticed is that the door looks too small. Don't know why I noticed it, just seems a bit out of proportion.

I think you should put some human-sized objects in that area in front of the building so the door doesnt look so goofy.
Maybe a bench or a tree or something -shrug-
      edit: or some humans
