Life drawing and drawing from reference, are great ways to improve. Keep up the good work.

A few beginner's mistakes. Your value tones are too even. Try to use a more graphite pencil for darker tones and leave some white for that metallic shine.
At the basis, it's made from cilinders. Your contour lines, need to wrap around especially at the edges.

Every object can be broken down in meriad ways of cubes, spheres and cilinders. Learning these basic shapes can be fun and it makes drawing a little less rough and tedious.

The sword is lovely though. Nice design.

      Best of Luck

Yeah that sword looks sweet, but it could use some shine and some volume. Can't wait to see more of your work.

Thanks for the tips. I've been learning the cubes and the cylinders for the past 2 days but i'm somewhat lost on what to learn next. In any case, i'll be drawing from reference and so on like you said.

      What to learn next?

The obvious answer would be gesture drawing, be sure to watch Proko on youtube and his take on the subject. Learn to draw more from the shoulder, (and elbow and wrist), not the fingers. Drawing is not writing. Gesture drawing is fluent, capturing the motion and the weight distribution of a person. Be confident and tell a story.

Drawing from life has more depth. Improving quickly is being honest with yourself. Give yourself self-critique. See if you've achieved a desired result. And think on what and how you can improve it. In drawing from references you have the added benefit of turning the image to greytone. To check only for values. Flipping the image will also give you a new set of eyes. And be patience, never rush a drawing for no reason.

What else can you do? Pretty much anything, the possibilities are endless. What I did were fun, overly ambitious side projects to get outside of my confort zone. They were daunting and exciting at the same time. Failure was always an option and sure they'd fail sometimes and I'd cancel it. But mostly I proceed to the end, no matter what. You can do the same albeit your approach will probably be a lot different. You have to decide for youself what you want to do. Like for instance design an epic sword. They don't have to be big projects per se. Another thing are small fun drawing drills. Drawing 20 hands or feet from different angles. Learn from books, youtube, sites, art instuction, etc, it's your choice.

I'm currently learning perspectives so on and so forth. This is my attempt at a two-point perspective drawing. I surely have a lot of mistakes in here, i rushed a bit with this. Beautiful drawings will have to wait.

      Spoiler for Random Character Sketch:

I continued to mess around with water colours and discovered that the drawing is ruined now.

That perspective sketch is pretty darn good.

For most artists, most of their work is failed experiments. Keep at it, I can't wait to see what you come up with...
