Thumbs up The Place You Called Home (Take a listen)

Hey everybody. I just thought I'd share some of what I've been working on lately. I've been finishing up writing the soundtrack music for Running Deep, being released this year.

I've also been tasked to get some popular songs in the movie, and have been working with the artist Ted Hovis, recording, producing, and performing with him on his music. Here is an almost finished version of his latest song The Place You Called Home, which closes the movie. This is a great number, and will get stuck in your head if you're not careful!

      Very nice.

Listening on earbuds, so this may be a bit skewed... the only tiny critique I'd offer is the heavy use of delay. I know this is supposed to be an ethereal thing, but it's a bit deep in that regard. The slapback tail on some of the percussion stuff is distracting in the quiet bits.

Other than that, it is an excellent song and a fantastic production job. Everything has its own space... EQ is superb, micing choices are tasteful and clean. It is obvious that you are a pro.

      Thanks for letting us listen!

Thats pretty impressive skysaw, i know you may not appreciate criticism but listening to it at the beginning where the bass comes in it sounded a bit off beat at places, it could be just me but thats what i heard, just saying in case. It sounded very slightly off beat, but overall i love this, very impressive indeed

Hey that's cool, man. You know I just finished an intro credits and animation for All Along not too long ago. Never considered posting it - maybe I will once they have their premiere.

This site has one heck of a talent pool for just about any project out there. I love it! My sister is finishing up a script for a tv series - I'll be keeping you in mind. Ya just never know.

This is something I'll be working on taming for the final mix. The sound you are describing actually comes from the rhythm guitar. The sound was miked from Ted's cabinet, and was unintentionally recorded with a reverb setting on the amp itself. I kind of like this accidental sound, but it's too heavy, so it'll be tweaked to make it more subtle.

Thank you for listening! It sounds like you know a bit about recording as well, so I especially appreciate your input.

I very much appreciate criticism, thanks. I'll be doing a bit more polishing and will give a careful listen to the bass.

      Thanks TJ!

You're right about the talent pool here. There's always something interesting in the way of photography, drawing, music, juggling, etc going on here.

The link in my signature will take you to my site which has a lot of my original works on it, if you or your sister have a project come up. I have two feature-length movies as composer, and am now working for Mountain Apple Records doing orchestration and arrangements. I'll be working on the next Iz album. (The current one debuted at number 44 on Billboard.)
