Gnome's Juggling .GIFs (Inspired by O)

Oneironaut's awesome .gif collection inspired me to try to make loops of some of my juggling tricks. As you can see, I made one for my avatar. I'm planning on making a collection of my tricks, maybe even eventually one for every trick I know. I think this would be cool, for cataloging purposes. And they're fun to watch The one in my avatar is a trick called Mills Mess. It's one of the "big three" - that is, Mills Mess, Rubenstein's Revenge, and Burke's Barrage. Mills Mess is a big milestone for jugglers, it's a very fluid back-and-forth movement with arms crossing like nuts. Rubenstein's is one of the hardest three-ball moves I can do - Rubenstein's is to Mills as Mills is to the standard three-ball cascade (aka "normal" juggling ) Here's a .gif of me doing Rubenstein's. Not a perfect run, but good enough. This one's Burke's Barrage. I think it's slightly easier than Mills Mess, but it's just as much fun to do. Great rhythm. This .gif is of a trick called "factory", or "the machine". It's a big crowd favorite because it's not a trick you see every day, and it takes non-jugglers a while to figure out how the shuttle-drop-in move works. I'll make more later, especially if anyone's interested. *Edit* by the way, the reason the balls aren't as striking as they are in my avatar is that there is light coming in from outside, so they're not as relatively bright. I may eventually remake all of them during the night/evening, because they do look a lot nicer that way. I did burke's with one window closed off, so you can see the difference already.

I teach people at my school to juggle on a daily basis, and I've been considering making a tutorial video so people not physically near me might benefit from some of the tips I've picked up. I didn't think anyone would really use it, though, seeing as there are so many tutorials already online (youtube, anyone? ) Nonetheless, I think I have some novel advice to offer. Would you be interested if I went through with it? From my experiences, even the most un-coordinated people can be taught to do a three-ball flash within ten minutes. Maybe I could spread juggling-joy to the DV community!

I've taught a lot of kids the basic three-ball move... and it's all I ever learned myself. There is nothing sweeter than the reaction from somebody when they realize they CAN do it.

I wanted to say "awesome Mills' mess" but didn't want to spam an unrelated thread. Glad I found this one. Awesome Mills' mess, man. Do you have it that smooth, or is it just tweaked in the .gif? I can do it but its super sloppy. I don't juggle enough (anymore) to have moved up to any more difficult techniques. Edit: maybe I'll pick up the ol' balls and clubs when I get home from work.

When you come into your thread and have three of them plus the avatars all at the same time you're having problems. Could be any number of things. Try avoiding this thread on that laptop or else just using your User Options to turn off images while you are on that machine. I often do that anyway, just to keep me from looking like even more of a slacker than I am. (Kidding there - my time is mine, but I don't want to appear unprofessional.)

Thanks, Xaq! I didn't edit the video, I just cut out one round of it to loop. I'm really picky about my juggling form, I often film myself and then try to correct any errors/awkward areas I see. For example, it's not really a big deal, but on my avatar, the third ball to go across both ways has an arc which is almost too flat to my taste. It's not quite matched up with the others, so it flattens the mills on both sides a bit. I guess smoothness comes from being anal

Yeah, thats what I decided to do, I like your tutorial thread, I just gotta work on getting some balls, I use oranges when we have some, but they're not too easy to work with cause they're always different sizes.

Try socks rolled up with some coins in them, that's how I learned (minus the coins, but they make them easier to catch)
