I dunno. I'm guessing you'd want to use Flash. Take a course on it. I'm sure there are free courses out there.

Yeah, get Macromedia Flash 8 and you can animate anything. It's actually really easy, if you just want to go for a simple cartoony look (which I'm guessing you do). I learned how to do it to a pretty good degree in an afternoon, plus it's fun to learn. I think you have vista though (like me) and I find that it randomly closes unexpectedly quite a few times. So save often.

There's lots of free good guides on the internet.

I have a Dell XPS, it came with a mouse that is very shitty, should I buy a new mouse or a tablet?

I'd say yes. Flash needs a good mouse. You'll shoot yourself if you don't have a good mouse, and you try flash.

Buy a Wacom Bamboo tablet, they're fair sized and good for drawing.

NO! Flash is evil! Synfig Studio is like just as good and works very similarly to Flash, with the mixture of GIMP's layout. Synfig Studio is FREE, and I've seen people do better work with Synfig Studio than Flash. You can also use Anime Studio which is bone style animation, Synfig Studio and Flash are vector style.

Wacom tablets canbe bought at wacom.com, and are very good.

VEctor drawing and Flash are two different things...Vector drawing is a feature of flash, but does this Synifg crap have any kind of scripting language to make shit interactive? If so, does this Synfig stuff export into swf or have a commonly used driver in order to allow it to run?

No language, at least I don't think so, there might be. It proabably does export into a flash video or something, but it is 100% free, and you should check out the "crap" people made with it: http://www.synfig.com/gallery.php

I haven't used it before, but people have said it's awesome! It's like the GIMP vs. Photoshop. Although Photoshop is a whole lot better, people have created PS quality things with GIMP.

Oh, alright. So it's just an animation creator with vector drawing? Okay. But if he wanted buttons or stuff to make it interactive, he should definatly get flash, or at least Liveswif...lol.

Or he can learn to program in java, just add a movie in and some buttons n' stuff, but I think Flash would be better, his decision. Just giving cheaper options. Using the mouse for drawing is pretty good,for example, I just got a new computer with an uber cool mouse, and I can draw in ease with it, but a pen tablet is still easier and can provide better effects.
