      Arrow Mah 3D Gecko thing With Blender & PS

      Made using Blender 3D and Photoshop. This is just a quicky render. But I still think there is something missing (not the eyes,I'll get to work on those). Is there some detail I need to work one? Like add any textures? BTW, I'm still working on the gecko, so all is not perfect.

      Yeh, I'm working on rigging it, thanks! I might also add subsurface scattering, but that wouldn't be very good if I do an animation (super duper long render time).

      No, SSS is very fast, it's just one pass prerendering. You could add it for the webbing or it's feet. The raytracing that you're going to have to do for the eyes will take way longer.

      I recommend making the scaly normal map that you have smaller, if it's seamless have it repeat 2 or even three times in all directions. Also increase the normal influence.

      Ok, thanks for the help! I'm currently working on the eyes, I'll have an update by Friday hopefully, because of school. The texture is algorithm based, a cloud texture set to voronoi crackle (if you use Blender). Hopefully I'll get a good Yaf(a)ray render. here is a quick bottom render (from blenderartists, too lazy to upload again)

      Dude, you gotstah start Blender again! But your gonna have to relearn LOTS of things, because there have been MAJOR upgrades and addons in the past few versions (current is 2.48), there have been two major projects, leading major improvements to the game engine and a complete rewrite of the particle system! The particle system is revamped, majorly, you can achieve million more times realistic results, including the ability to comb (yes, I said comb), and adjust hair without the headache of curves! You can also bake shadows and ambient occlusion, and normals, even full renders. Sub surface scattering got an important add on, where you can have two colors, like for skin, under light there is red. Game engine got GLSL, huge upgrade, GLSL uses OpenGL to provide stunning realtime shadows, reflections, textures, normals, nodes (include DOF, blurs, etc), and more! The game engine also got an official rigid body thing and also got cloth ()! I mean cloth in 360, PS3, and Wii games are just beginning to appear, and Blender already got em! There are major upgrades due to the two major projects, you gotta check it out.
      There've also been a few important improvements on fluids (recently), you can now morph and mess with fluids! There is also a cloth physics thing, official, with real cloth dynamics, now you don't have to fake it with the softbody function!
      There's lots to check out if you've been gone for a while.

      And if you have old Blender files, you can still use them in this version, because Blender uses DNA!

      Blender participates in Google's Summer of Code program, so every August it will get major upgrades. I'm hoping that they add photons into Blender soon, makes things so much nicer

      Where's an update? I wanna see the eyes You should rig it and make it dance for us

      The muzzle should be longer IMO, and the texture detail needs some finer work, is all

      all i can think of from physically how a gecko looks is you still need to add it's nostrils, maybe make it's eye a tad smaller then it is and also it seems as if the back foot has quite rounded toes for sticking to surfaces but the front toes look more pointed, basically like two different species of gecko. I'd say pick the style of toe on one foot and try and copy it to the other a little more exact. Also maybe widen the head a little, most geckos actually have pretty big heads when you look at them.

      Oh, haha, can't get to updating it, lol. I'll get it finished hopefully over the following winter break. Eyes should be fairly simple; you don't know how many eyes I've made as a Blenderer. Thanks for the help, completely forgot the nose! I test riggedhim with Creat From Bone Heat, that seems to getitjust about right. Thanks!
