      Fableflame's photography

I've seen a few people with threads dedicated to photography, so I figured what the hell, I'll make one too.
Here are a few pictures I've taken recently. These first few were taken in the greenhouse at school.

I was experimenting with the flash on these next two. The first one the flash was on, but I turned it off for the second one.

I like the second one better.

This next one I took just a short while ago, there was something about the way the sky looked that made me want to take a picture.

      Whaddaya think?

I love plants, especially ferns. :3 They remind me of walking through a warm greenhouse. I love walking around in greenhouses. Keep up the great work!

I like them, although I think you should try for a more variety of angles and closeups to get the essence of what you're trying to capture- like the fourth pic, I know exactly what I'd do- get right up close and let the camera almost kiss the rim of the pot, them aim out towards the outstretching plants. Just try experimenting with shots like that, they generally add a lot of interest in the photos :]

Also, to get more pictures as clean as those rocks, make sure you turn Macro mode on whenever you think you're getting pretty close to the subject- it'll make the focus far cleaner.

Nice work though, hope to see more

You should definitely tell your camera to not put time stamps on. That is really annoying. If you want to know when a photo was taken, just look in the EXIF data.

You also got some bad framing going on, like in the second picture, that arm is just really out of place. You should crop stuff like that out.

I really like the rocks picture, good light and very sharp. The plant where you experimented with flash is okay too, though you should try to reduce camera shake somehow, like placing the camera on top of something.

What kind of camera are you using by the way? With as much light as there is in a greenhouse, you shouldn't really need to use a flash, and the shutter time should be quick enough to reduce the effect of camera shake.

Looking at the last picture, you had a good motive. I don't think that car should've been there, simply the silhouette of trees and then the sunset would be better I think.

A guy at school had these cool stainless steel dice, I thought it was picture worthy.

Sorry about the date stamp on this one, I took this about a month ago and just found it again on my computer

I love sunsets....especially when they get all red and pink, when shot through trees.

Lovely, though if you have macro mode on your camera I strongly encourage you to use it for closeups, otherwise you'll be stuck with that ugly blur ruining an image with a lot of potential.

Most of those pictures are over exposed. The exposure in this one is okay, you should try to aim for that.

This picture is also really good, but over exposed in my opinion. Here's what I could do with Photoshop.

It is not perfect, but it brings out a lot more of the picture I think. Look at the rock on the lower right, for example. That looks really odd, and that's because the exposure was way too high.

edit: I suggest you click both pictures to get a little higher resolution.

Yeah. The one re-occuring problem I see is that a lot of the photos are 'washed out' so they end up looking dull and pale... which isn't always a bad thing, it can be used artistically... but in these it doesn't seem like it's working too well.

Read over the manual for your camera, or just experiment with it and familiarize yourself with the various setting... because IMO more than half the battle in photography lies with the camera itself, you can be the best damn photographer in the world... but if you don't have control of your camera and all it's parameters than you'll might as well not bother.

Just focus on learning to tweak white balance, exposure, and also practice actually taking pictures as well. Because being able to have a 'good eye' through training is super helpful. I have friends that you could give a camera and by the end of the day you'd have twenty brilliant photos... while I have other friends where you'd give them a camera and by the end of the week they may have one good photo.... and it's all thanks to practice. Being able to understand lighting, angles, focus, depth etc is all vital if you want to get into photography as an art.
