      Abstract and Depressing Song/Poem

      "Thirty Days in Another World"

      Across the seas of fire
      The lakes of frozen flame
We arrive at the gates forged of shadow and light
And we dance on the carnival night

We are here for a single purpose
For a single ancient climb across
The limericks of life are a mile high
And the shadows cast are always lost

Here we are and we don't know what to do
Falling through the seas of green and blue
Banishing the night and the shadow's play
Here we are for thirty days

Tomorrow just won't be the same
      Great cathedrals of unending flame
Stand upon the mountains of human pride
      Dancing on the carnival night

      Thirty days in another world
Thirty shadows fall upon the walls
      Thirty million dieing nightly
And yet again, the sun shines brightly

Thirty days in the second century
Thirty days since the sun was lost
A weekend traveler through our world
Sees the light on the carnival night

Deathly darkness so thick and deep
      The steadily rotating shadows
      Candle of the frozen light
      Falling through the endless night

      Thirty days in another world
Thirty shadows fall upon the walls
      Thirty million dieing nightly
And yet again, the sun shines brightly

We've arrived right back where we started
Final stop on the road to die
Humanity falls in a flash of light
A joyous dance on the carnival night

I see it as being about society and extremely depressing, but my friend thinks it's a happy song and is about love (I don't know why either), my other ex-girlfriend thinks its about death, and my English teacher thinks it makes no sense (which it doesn't).
