I love to knit. Ever since I learned, I've been addicted. I don't know how to do very much...I can make basic scarves, and hats, but I don't know any stiches besides regular knit and purl. So, anything you'd like to say about knitting, I'd appreciate it. I mean, I can't be the only knitter here.

I used to know how to knit when I was younger, but I haven't done it in about 15 years, so I've long since forgotten. The only thing I remember about it was that I always made the stitches so tight that my needles would rub together and squeak lol.

My other problem was that I didn't know how to end stitch (purl?), so the scarves would go on forever!

Aww. It takes a lot of practice. I'm an OK knitter. I've had a lot of fun making some thing. Perhaps you should pick the hobby back up. It is addicting, you know!

Hehe knitting. Whenever someone talks about kitting I always imagine an old lady in a rocking chair, knitting so fast that you can't see her needles; they're just a blur. But that's just me. Oh and it's also off topic.

I did too, but I've always been a very creative person, so naturally, it seemed cool to learn how. So, I did, and you can make some cool stuff. It's not just for grandmas anymore, dagnabbit.

Oh, and I just learned how to crochet!Woohoo!

cool...you're not the only knitter on here gwen, i'm a needle freak too. I even take my knitting to work.

I haven't made much, so far it's only a few scarves and a cardigan for my boyfriends niece. I'm currently knitting squares for a throw, and i'm subscribed to a weekly knitting magazine.

Burns, the thing you're thinking of is casting off, it's really easy to do. When you want to finish, you just knit two stitches on your right hand needle. Pass the first stitch over the second on the needle, and you have one stitch cast off. You repeat this until you get to the end of the piece of work, cut your yarn, thread it through the loop and pull.

when i've sewn some squares together, i'll try and post a pic...

Awesome, irishcream! I knew I couldn't be the only obsessive knitter! That sounds awesome. You should post some pictures, if you can sometime. That would be wonderful. Have you made any socks? Thus far, I have not because I'm not sure about how to turn the heel....Would you happen to know?

i haven't made any socks yet, although i've heard it's pretty easy. I think it's simply turning your work and keep on knitting...although i'm not sure.

i'll let you know if i get round to knitting some!

Ok. If you do, I'd appreciate it. Even if I've figured it out by then, there are some out there who I am sure would appreciate it.

haha...my nan used to go bowling, and she used to knit while she was waiting for her turn...i spoke to her a few months back, asked her if she had any needles and patterns, and she'd unfortunately got rid of them..such a shame.

I'd like to learn to crochet....

My mother went through a knitting (Crocheting?) phase a few years back. She was ALWAYS knitting. She ended up making enough sweaters, ponchos, scarves and hats to fill a 20' x 20' tent with them, to sell. None of them sold, of course, so now we have far too many boxes of knitted sweaters and the like with nothing to do with them.

Now she's making jewlery. Faster, and easier to sell! Whee!

I too, do a lot of crafts. I love to make jewelry, but I'm not looking to sell anything...I just like perfecting skills. Once this one is perfected pretty well, I want to learn to embroider. My mother and father do this very well, so I'm thinking that would be great place to learn.

embroidery or cross stitch is something else i'd love to try...

i like knitting though because you can carry it around with you...embroidery might be more difficult because of the threads getting tangled.

Yes, that's true. But, I think that it is a skill worth having. My mom embroiders really well. She and my dad both embroidered a series of celtic designes on an assortment of things. Gosh, they are good.

Cool! I would love to see pics if you ever have any. I cross-stitch sometimes and I've been looking for a Celtic pattern to do, but I haven't found one that I really like yet.

There is a lady that has a daughter that plays softball on the same team as my daughter, and she brings her knitting to the games!! I love to watch her work, she is knitting a sweater. How she can watch all the plays, cheer, keep up with the score and outs, and knit at the same time is an enigma to me, but she does it!!!

Burns, I used to crossstitch, it was a lot of fun, I've had some of them framed and made pillows one time! Now it seems all I do is cook.

Yeah, I know lots of people that way. Sometimes, if I know a class is not going to be interesting, I'll take my knitting. Teachers here don't seem to mind..I can take notes at the same time, and participate in class.

Burns, when I go home, I'll see what I can find. They have all this stuff up there, so over spring break I should be able to find the stuff.
