I don't really know anything about this (because I'm one of those people who doesn't care)... I can tell you that this hard core vegetarian (not vegan because he drank milk) friend of mine would check the label on every packet of sugar he bought. Apparently a lot of sugar is made with pig fat.

Hmm. Hardcore vegans/vegetarians scare me slightly. I'm sure they have the right reasons, but...hmmm...

Anyone that willingly gives up bacon has clearly never had it cooked right.

100% truth. I couldn't live without my bacon, not to mention my Canadian Sausage, which is when you wrap a deliciously grilled breakfast sausage in maple-flavoured bacon, and then pour maple syrup on top. It's like Heaven, wrapped in animal flesh.

Lol this appearantly became a debate about whether I should be vegan or not..I think I'm gonna be a vegiterian instead...vegan diets are a little annoying...I feel bad though. I still don't think it is ethically right to continue abusing animalsthe way we do...so using animal products is also bad...but I just can't get over the fact that I'm eating a corpse...

      Oh well. /sigh

      I agree with Mes 100%.

      Especially the iron thing.

My mom wasn't even a vegan, but she didn't eat enough iron because she would get SO busy in the day time and would forget to eat properly [enough meat and what not], and she got a bad case of iron deficiency.

She was actually admitted into ICU and was almost on her death bed because of it. I never realized how IMPORTANT iron is and vitamins are until THAT happened.

Also, check your family history and check for anemia, because the doctor told me the reason me and my sister were anemic was because my mom was and that it can be hereditary.

I had no clue a vitamin deficiency could be hereditary, but if a doctor tells me that, then I have nothing else to do but believe him.

I'm not even a vegan, but I KNOW I don't eat as much meat as I probably should to substitute my lack of vitamins so I take vitamins everyday regardless.

Just make sure you do it right, like Mes said .

      Probably.

I was thinking more for in general deficiencies of meat-related stuffs.

I eat too much meat and drink too many raw eggs.

      Ugh.

What's wrong with cooking them first? Does that evaporate some iron or something?

Apply the same concept in reverse.

      Eat humans?

      Ahh okay.

Well I knew about the raw egg thing and being a good source of protein and what not, but I thought you mean towards the whole anemia thing.

Yeah eggs are an awesome source of protein.

It changes certain proteins; I think it's equally good, but in a different manner.

I think eating them raw has faster acting proteins etc.

It certainly works better for building muscle.

Now you tell me. As I'm nearing the end of my Bodyworks course. Ah well, hopefully I'll continue the workout and adopt this. Isn't there salmonella risk? Or is salmonella a conspiracy like I've suspected all along?

      Salmonella is VERY real.

My memmaw had a chicken coop growing up and had salmonella poisoning.

Salmonella is only a risk if you don't clean a chicken properly and what not because chickens hold the bacteria in their feces and what not.

As for being in eggs, I don't think you have anything to worry about unless they are rotten.

      I could stand corrected though.

As for eggs, you can eat them raw ( ) or you can boil them. I much prefer the latter. I think making them into omelets and all that yummy jazz is what takes away some of the vitamins.

Patience, what sort of vitamins do you take? I take a regular multivitamin thing (that contains iron as well) once a day.. I hope that's enough though...

Before beginning on raw eggage I checked out the risks.

Nowadays commercial supermarket eggs are rigourously checked; because you can sue them straight off if you get salmonella.

The chances these days I think are somewhere in the region of 99.9999999% that you won't get it.

      Good odds for any Greek.

      What's a "bodyworks course"?

I just try to build all the time. Usually 6 weeks on-1 week off repeat.

      It's a never ending cycle.

How unpleasant are raw eggs? I can't imagine them being the easiest thing to swallow.

"Bodyworks" is the name of the body building course in my school. It's apparently the hardest Phys. Ed. class and has the most fails. We lift weights Mon, Wed, Fri and do running and floor hockey on Tues, Thurs. This class starts an hour before school does.

I think a lot of it has to do with smell/texture... Whoa, 'scuse me.
