      Ask Me About Meerkats!

I like Meerkat Manor and frequently visit the site for the group monitoring them. Any questions about these cute creatures?

Why are they so hysterical that gazing upon them makes even Steven Seagal add a new smiling facial expression to his arsenal?

Though I guess a serious question would be: are they really considered rodents?
      Since apparently snakes eat them.

      Meerkats are cute, that's true.
I wonder if they can be domesticated.

I don't think they're rodents, they are a type of mongoose.

And yes they can be domesticated, though I wouldn't support that since they need lots of room to dig and forage and need more than one of their species with them since they're social animals.

I was just curious about domesticating them because I have a ferret (not even close to being a meerkat-I know) and thought if ferrets have been domesticated meercats might make decent pets as well.

If you were to enter their enclosure, they might attack. They're curious things so it's either that or they'll sniff you.

Neavo: You're hilarious. I can picture that.

As to if they can walk upright: No. On "Meerkat Manor", I've seen a couple side-step in order to get a better focus on some enemies, but they can't walk like a human. Otherwise they must walk on all fours.
