      Tell me about improv

I'm toying with the idea of taking improv classes this summer. Has anyone done it? I figure it would be a lot of fun, plus a great communication skills builder, since the skills they teach are basically what you need to be able to have a fun conversation with someone, etc.

Anyone know what I should expect, etc.?

A lot of physicality comes with working with improv, as it involves a lot of quick acting and thinking, so it's important to keep yourself sharp and on the move, and keep your brain active and going. This means if you take improv classes this summer, be prepared for a workout at the same time. I'll be taking a full day improv class or two at the end of this month, I'm pretty excited for it right now. It's definitely a lot of fun, I think you'd really enjoy it if you took the classes.

'Improv classes'? You have classes for improvisation?

Is this a school thing in America or something else?

I thought improvising was just one of those things humans just do.

It's improvisation as an art form, as in quick thinking, making theatrical and entertaining performances with no script or whatever to go on. Think "Whose Line is it Anyway?". That's an improv show, and the participants on the show are all highly trained in the art of improv.

      For an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvEX2...eature=related

      Ah, Improv. Fun stuff.

I've taken a few drama classes in high school, and by far the best unit we did was improv. I was crazy good at it as I could think on my feet without making things sound completely stupid. For just about everything after Drama, I did most of my presentations by either improv or pre-planned improv (Which isn't really that planned...), and it was fun.

So yeah, if you like it, go for it.
