I want to take up piano

Well... keyboard. I really don't know where to start. I managed to play part half of a complicated song with a youtube tutorial, but I nether have a superb memory(maybe) nor sheet reading music skills.

My questions are: What are some simple songs that have cool melodies? To help I absolutely refuse to play songs like twinkle little star and I like alot of video game composers.

If you like video game composers, try Nobuo Uematsu's music from Final fantasy. I don't know how hard they are, they sound quite simple but they're nice to your ears.

With memory and sheet reading music skills, practice makes perfect meaning if you keep playing your favourite tune over and over, eventually you will memorise the whole song.

For sheet reading, you can start playing some simple tunes and slowly try more challeging tunes. But I'm not really a big help.
And if I had wheels, I'd be a wagon.

I started training piano some years ago, but i'm just putting more effort on it right now. I never played twinkle little star I prefer playing videogames/anime themes, and there are many simple, yet cool video game songs

Start with some... some Final Fantasy themes (for example the chocobo theme). XD don't do like i did trying the hardest/coolest music before you know the basic steps. Get used to the keyboard first, try speeding up/slowing down songs you play, or try playing them in another rhythm. Once you get the hang of it, try something harder.

There are several video game sheet music sites on the internet, and youtube is a good place to look for, too.

And the typical advice, as always, practice makes perfect. (I know how much it sucks being stuck in a difficult part of the song, but once you get through it, it'll get much better)

I started playing the piano by learning Zelda off of youtube, you can start with the short ones and work your way to the longer ones. I recomend this guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPji9BGOHbs - That is him teaching Song Of Storms.

After I learned the Zelda tunes I went to Final Fantasy and learned One Winged Angel and Aerith's Song... best thing to do is just search around on youtube with the words "learn, tutorial and piano"

I've been playing piano for 2 years now.

I taught myself completely, and while I can't read sheet music, I can still play many popular songs.

Piano (as well as guitar) is a great instrument for someone who has a musical ear. Teaching yourself to play piano with no prior musical ability will be difficult, not impossible, but difficult.

Like mentioned before, check out some youtube videos.

      Check out this site.
      http://www.pianofundamentals.com/

It provides free guides on piano playing, techniques and skills, and such. The author writes much about how intuitive techniques will actually be bad.

Hey there, I've played piano since I was about 7. Maybe you could try and work some stuff out yourself. The thing I spend most of my time doing is playing chords and melodies of classic pop/rock, it's generally pretty simple when you get it. Try looking up tabs (they're very easy to find on Google) and playing the note of the chord in the bass with your left whilst playing the melody which should be pretty easy to work out in your right.

Maybe start off with some Beatles, they've got very strong but often simple and repeated melodies. Hey Jude, Here Comes the Sun, Penny Lane, whatever.

Try to learn the Tetris theme =D
But man you don't have to have good memory you just have to have a good ear. Like my friend Tim he plays the Piano and Guitar by ear he is amazing, it takes him a while yes but he does it.

For playing by ear you might want relative pitch. Otherwise it'll be really tough.
