lol Nonposter... do you do that on purpose?

LifeStandsStill made me remember another of my habits:
If I'm trying VERY hard to remember something (usually lyrics or melody to a song), and I'm sitting at a table or something, I'll set my head down on my elbows to cover my eyes then with my hands, I cover my ears lol
When people who don't know me well see me do that, they usually think I'm angry or upset. But I do it so that outside stimuli wont distract me.

I used to chew my fingernails really bad, but I stopped with some mental effort, and now only do it if they are uneven and pulling out a knife would be inopportune, or after cutting to even up the cut. My nails must all be even or it bugs me, and certain fingernails grow faster, you know?

I don't trim my toenails nearly often enough, waiting until they are at least half an inch long before even thinking of it.

I too have left and right socks, and tell them apart by the protruded space where my big toe goes. It bugs m to no end to wear two left socks or two right socks.

I crack my knuckles, usually either by pressing on the back of the bent finger with my thumb of the same hand, or by pulling the finger with my other hand.

There's this thing I do, that I've mostly stopped these days, where I run the fingernails of one hand over my lips. Something about the sensation, I dunno. Sometimes I'll also compulsively smell my fingertips. I always stop myself when I catch myself doing it, because it's a bit odd.

I may think of more later.

Oh yes, a very bad habit I have is picking at my scalp. I have two or three small sores on my scalp that never heal fully because I'm always picking the scab off. Luckily I have long enough hair that this is not so evident.

Yes, it's very intentional (I can control it.) I don't like people staring at me for no apparent reason. Other guys do similar things, like intentionally giving a wide-eyed stare or a head tilt, but I find mine to be more creative.

Lets see, what else do I do... sometimes I play around with my glasses...

Oh yeah, I also habitually spin the face of combination locks after closing whatever is being locked. My old locker in middle school didn't reset after the door was shut, so anyone could come along and open it if you didn't mess with the lock beforehand. I had my stuff stolen a couple of times that way.

Parkour, card counting (not for a while though), reading body language & microexpression, theater, photography (not for a while though), playing the trumpet, LDing.

card counting I absolutely suck at and don't do at real casinos, though.

As you may have noticed I'm attracted to rather odd hobbies!

son of a bitch, I thought it said "hobbies" in the title. Yeah, a habit of mine is not reading instructions thoroughly before beginning!

LOL, What is Real! I've done the same thing many times before.
When I read your first post I was enthralled at why you thought those things were bad habits

Cracking knuckles and neck seems to be popular.

Several times per day I crack my knuckles. I pop them at the knuckle, and at the one joint in the middle of the finger (not the joint next to the fingernail, that hurts). I also pop my thumbs twice at the same spot because I'm double jointed. If I don't have shoes on I pop all my toes at once sometimes, I do it by bending all of my toes down at once, not with my fingers. I pop my neck when I wake up, and once or twice during the day. I can't pop my neck often it just doesn't work. I also bite my fingernails a lot. It's mainly due to stress and anxiety. I just got prescribed alprazolam(xanax) and that's helping my stress a lot so I don't pop my joints as much lately.

I also smoke if that counts as a habit. Unlike most people, I don't smoke because I'm addicted. I've been smoking since I was 15 (4 years) and I've never been addicted. I go without all the time and it never bothers me. It just helps reduce my anxiety/stress. Like, if I can't afford Marlboro or another top quality brand, I just won't smoke. I'm not addicted. I don't NEED cigarettes. People rarely believe me though.

Oh I bite my lips a lot too. I've been doing it less since I got my meds. I guess that counts as a habit, too. Oh almost forgot. Dunno if this counts as a habit or not but every time I have liquor, I gotta drink it out of my small size gas can(never used for gas of course, lmao). It's just funny as hell, I love drinking some whiskey or vodka outta my gas can.

I have one other really weird habit but it's related to my OCD so I'm not sure if that counts.

      There's my habits. Cool thread.

I crack my knuckles and my jaw.

When I read things online I highlight the paragraph as I'm going.

Idk what my habits are really. I know I have more. I just can't think of them.

Hahha, Blahaha. I was a very determined child when it came to curiosities. I've cracked my knuckles for as long as I can remember, but when I was about 7 I noticed there were 3 joints on my fingers and wondered why I couldn't pop the ones beneath my fingernails.
So, while at school I'd set the top joint of a finger on my desk and place my other hand overtop the fingernail and then I'd pull down on the hand with the trapped joint until it popped.
I remember it hurt a LOT at first, but it didn't phase me at all after awhile.

Throughout my childhood and teenage years I could rotate my head to make my neck pop but by the time I was about 18 I lost that ability. Now-a-days, I have to be pretty stiff and use my hands to help pop my neck.

The thing that amazes me the most about all my cracking and popping is that when I was about 24 and started having major panic/anxiety attacks my chest would feel unbearably tight. I started flexing my shoulders backwards and a joint (?!) at the center of my chest, slightly above my breasts, will crack. I didn't even realize there was a joint there lol. The area becomes extremely inflamed after a few hours of popping it and Naproxen was the only thing I could find to help. Now that I'm on meds for anxiety I rarely pop my chest.

My right elbow has been giving me the most fits for the last couple weeks. In order to pop it, I set my hand down flat, then I hyperextend my elbow and use body weight by pushing outwards and down. It's been "hitching" a lot lately with several false cracks (like it get's a fraction of a second away from popping but then doesn't)

In case it's not easily noticed, my elbow is actually facing my body.

I've recently started doing something similar where if I was reading something which was in small font, I would highlight the line after the line which I'm reading so I wouldn't read the same line twice or skip a line.

Elis, I thought I was the only one who highlights as they read online! That's really strange. Whenever I'm on the computer, all you hear is click... click... clickclick... click...
