      Tell me about South Korea

Just... please, anything you know. Other than the fact that there are some very pretty people over there.

Lots of South Koreans live in Vancouver and related areas.

my brother lived there for 2 years while being in the army. We went to visit there for two weeks. I guess its pretty interesting that all the apartments and older buildings look bad from the outside but are great on the inside. Also, they eat a lot of Kimchi and other really spicy food. I love it but it might be too much for some people.

People will run red lights if there is no one coming the other way. We stopped at one and someone actually went out on the shoulder and around us to run the light. lol.

Most of the people were pretty nice to us but some ran in to us intentionally for being americans. Not very many though.

and yes, you can actually watch people play starcraft on tv there. quality stuff.

Oh yeah, Kimchi. If you're going there for a long time, or maybe even at all you might want to develop a taste for it. It's really good though, if you like spicy food you shouldn't have a problem.

      Oooooh.

      This is already helpful.

I'm considering teaching English there for a year, and I need to make my final decision like... today, otherwise my spot will be filled for sure.

I think you should just go for it, it will definitely be worth it for the experience. I'm going to do the same but in Japan when i finish up at University. South Korea is supposed to be a good place to go and if your teaching it can be a great experience.

Plus there is a lot to do and places you can go, hey you could even hop across the pond to Japan, closer likely means its cheaper. Take a year out and do it because its bound to be an enjoyable experience.

Ahhh that's precisely the kind of encouragement I need, thanks LS! And yeah I would most definitely visit Japan.. it's like what, probably 40 minutes by plane from South Korea. I'd probably visit as much of Asia as I possibly could. I'm not going to teach as a career, but I still think this would be a beneficial thing to do.

I predict you will come back dressed as a night elf, relentlessly waving a Blizzard flag.

That's the kind of change you can only undergo on a trip to a foreign country...

      Thank you thank you!!

Oh and apparently Koreans are much more welcoming to foreigners than the Japanese are. I did consider Japan, but this bit of information is making me glad I chose otherwise.

But I'm still expecting the first few weeks to be TOUGH.

^ True that. SKorea though is really nice, don't worry about being welcomed there.
