How to respond to stares and glances. Guys point of view.

I kinda get them time to time. I know some people get uncomfortable with stares, especialy wemon. But I'm a guy, and I never know what steps to take to eventually spark a social move.

I recently changed my habit of having the appearance of just ignoring the glances and stares or just making it seem like I don't know they're looking at me. So I know actually stare back . And to my surprise, it becomes sort of like a staring contest! . But....well....I kinda end up loosing because I'm the first to look away. I guess I get nervous because I don't know what to say or do or act. I'm not a very social person, I may be attractive and actually wan't to give the other person who might be interested in meeting me a chance of at least me showing that I might like them back. But just don't know how.

Anyone have some advice? Maybe some pointers of what a female would think? Girls?
When I dream, theres always a
little girl playing in the dirt, that
turns to me and says "Why are
you here? .... Are you blind like
      me?"

      What I've found
      What I've known
Never shined to me what I've shown
      Never be
      Never free
I wish to see what might have been...
...So I talk to you unbeliever.

Drop trou and hip-thrust toward them slowly.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

That sounds funny Taosaur, but I don't know what the heck that means.

Just don't look down from the stare. Then nod an acknowledgement ... waving is korny.

When someone stares at me, I simply punch them in the face. It is quite an effective policy when it comes to deterrence.

Hold on, is this romantic staring.....?

Try narrowing your eyes. If that doesn't work, tell them it's rude to stare.

Yes, pretend they are not staring. They will get over it eventually.

I get plenty of stares, especially with this here mohawk. I just stare right back as long as possible, and then some, even if it means craning my neck and following them as they walk away.

Nothing beats a staring contest. Old people are usually the toughest to beat.

One time I was daydreaming and somehow ended up in a staring contest with some guy across the room. Haha.

As for this staring thing, why don't you just give them a weird look?

Some of these replies crack me up!

If you're interested in more than "staring" at her.. give a small smile and a quick wink.

This thread reminds me of girls having text on their shirts, going over the chest.

Auto Pilot mode makes me read it. In some cases of auto pilot, I read it, then think about it without taking my eyes off it. That's not good.

If people stare at me, I generally just (smile and then) look away and ignore.
If the person is an old person (they are sort of scary when they stop everything and just stare D: ) smiling is a must

Give her the finger. If she wants it, she'll come over. If not, she'll give you a disgusting look.

      GIVE HER A SHOCKER.

Now, I'm only going to say this once, so listen carefully. Read carefully. Whatever.

If a pretty girl stares at you, this is what you do. Take your right hand. Make a fist. Stick out your thumb. Now, keeping your thumb out, stick out your index finger. And finally, keeping those out, stick out your pinky. Take left hand, and point to right hand with the 3 fingers sticking out.

The girl will do one of 3 things:
      a) look digusted and walk away (psyche damage: moderate, physical damage: none)
      b) look digusted and slap you (psyche damage: moderate, physical damage: moderate)
      c) walk towards you and start subtley showing off her boobies (psyche damage: negative moderate, physical damage: depends on what diseases she has)

The relative likelyhoods of these options are heavily dependent on how close you look to _______ (insert famous Hollywood actor), so don't try this unless you're not ugly.

Always have a spare cell phone handy. A prepaid one, with only one number programmed into its memory: yours. If you see a hot chick staring, grin and toss her the spare cell.

The worst that happens is you're out $20, and the best...well, probably a lot more cash-wise, but it's more rewarding.

      I've tried that.

Problem is, in the mornings I sometimes get a little twitch as I move certain muscles.

A really big blink really does have quite the opposite intended effect.

Well, if the girl staring at you is staring at you for a good reason, I always find the best way to do it is to stare back, then smile. It always makes girls laugh, unless you have major dental problems. If it is a rude glare, just do the same thing, it annoys them, and gets them off your case.

if its some random person staring at me, i widen my eyes like and keep noding my head until they look away.
if its a girl, well, an attractive girl thats staring at me, i simply smile at her. i usually catch a smile back and if the scene is right i might wave or just ask her name.

i hate random passer-by's giving me the stink eye. although i'm doing the same thing, which is just having a staring contest. it still bugs the crap out of me for some reason.

I'm with Clairity on this one. Make eye contact, give her a cute smile. I love when guys do that. For me it's more about personality than looks anyway, and a cute/shy smile = win

Agreed. It works for me, so hey, it should work for most people.
