George died of cancer, but I think you put that there on purpose

I never said the stabbing killed him.... just that it was a crazed obsessive fan type that did it.

Like Bill Haley and the Comets, Elvis, The Beach Boys, and the Byrds.
Music isn't created in a vacuum. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to be an innovator. Surely you can understand this.

Innovative..... no, I'll have to disagree. Creative - Yes. John Lennon had a knack of creating little passages on the guitar and piano that would just stick in your head.

I don't particularly like or dislike the Beatles, but there are tunes that stick.

It's always going to be difficult to attribute the sounds, but I think it was a group process with the engineers, that was started by the demands of the Beatles to have a different sound for every album.

      Regards

      Ric

Every classic rock musician disagrees with you big time, and so do I.

So did Paul McCartney, perhaps even more so. John expressed jealousy over how he believed Paul's songs were catchier and would live on longer than his.

Yes... Their producer, George Martin, was literally the 5th Beatle. It is no exaggeration.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

      More than Ringo maybe...

My personal favs are Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper because I've always enjoyed pure melody more than anything else, and the beautiful, colourful production of those albums tops it off wonderfully. The White Album seems like a bit of a sprawling mess to me save a few very good songs, and Revolver is so heavy going that you can't listen to it for very long periods.

I'd caution against ignoring their classic material though, there's some amazing stuff there... Help, for example, has Ticket to Ride, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, I've Just Seen a Face, Yesterday... great songs.

3 if you include 2 on Taxman.

Yeah, TNK is one of my favourites. What a trip.
