Tell me how to start my day off...and have self discipline.

Everyday I get up and get ready for school...

Well, it's more like I'm told to get up, then I get up like 5 minutes before we have to leave for school and I just grab some clothes that are laying on the floor.

Everyday I feel like crap when I get to school. My nose is running, and I just feel ugly.

So, how can I start my day off great?

Also, my school told me I have no self discipline. My grades are really really crappy. This is going to be very hard for me to do, and saying "Just do your homework before you play games," isn't going to cut it. I never even take my homework home for starters. So how can I do that? Then actually do my homework?

What works for me, is play a game like Counter Strike. Then, when you die and have to wait for the next round to start, you can do your homework. I did this and it worked great for me, I actually started getting shit done, and it didn't feel like I was killing myself doing homework either, since I was just doing it while I was waiting, I might as well have been doing something productive.

Also, get up earlier. Clean the snot out of your nose, and take a shower, wear clean clothes, throw on some cologne. You'll feel so fresh and so clean.

But if I get up early and try to eat something, I get sick, or atleast I have to go to the bathroom and my stomach gets really upset.

I'm the same way, but I force myself to eat anyway. Learn to ignore the upsetness, over time, it will go away and it'll become routine to eat in the morning. You'll find you'll have more energy during the day to, and more energy usually means more motivation.

I suggest seeing the futility in both action and inaction, not only with just starting your day off, but everything.

If there's no point in anything, then there's no reason to get stressed, nor a reason for or against.

      You may be much happier?

Edit: of course, it's sort of a drastic decision. it's sort of like cutting the hands of thieves n__n

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      Simple... Just. Do. It.

You know what the problem is, and I know that you know what the answer really is.

GET some discipline, and just realize that you aren't going to do much better if you don't have some sort of discipline right now.

If you don't take your homework home, and if you don't make it, your results are going to get crappy. Period. Unless you're a genious like me...
So what's the solution to that? Simple: TAKE your homework home, and DO your homework.

If you can't at least do that, then how are we supposed to help you? 'saying just make your homework before playing games isn't going to cut it'. Well, too bad, if you don't WANT to change for the better, then why should we try? And don't even think of getting up earlier to make your homework. It screws with your sleep, which you NEED, you're human. The only things that's gonna do to you in the long run is getting you sleep deprivation and (maybe, just maybe, seeing as you're sleep deprivated by this point which will screw you up even more, believe you me!) better grades.

So the solution to your problem isn't a 'handy tip to making homework in between games', it simply is GET SOME SELF DISCIPLINE AND MAKE YOUR DAMNED HOMEWORK!!!!

And of course, you can choose not to listen to me and make your homework while being distracted by your counter-strike game or whatever, I'm fine with that. As long as you remember it're YOUR grades.

      Now, let's get positive!
As for starting your day: make sure you're well-rested and cheerful when you go out of the house. The best way to start your day is when you're awake, fit, happy, and at your very best.

      So:
Make sure you're lying in bed at 22:00 hours. Set the alarm clock for 7:00 or 6:30 (if you want to jog for a bit, or do exercises), so you get enough sleep.

Put the volume on your alarm clock HIGH. That way, you'll be wide awake, and you'll be forced to get the hell up, quickly, to shut the alarm clock up, in order for your family not to get mad at you because you've just gotten them out of their sleep. After that, it's a simple step: swing your legs over to one side of your bed, and just get up.

Now go to the closet, pick the best clothes you have everyday (remember: you will feel your best if you look your best). Go to bathroom. Get in shower. Shower (like... five to seven minutes or so... Just make sure you're clean and fresh). Finish with 1 minute of cold water (it's AWESOME!!! And apparently even healthy). Get out of shower. Shave & Stuff. Dress. Admire your beauty in the mirror, and say to yourself that "it's going to be a GREAT DAY!!!" in the silliest voice you can while smiling from ear to ear.

Pack your bags. Go downstairs. Smile and say hello to da family. Eat small breakfast (for me, two slices of bread and some tea is enough. Don't go 'full english breakfast', 'cause that will upset your stomach ).

Go back upstairs. Brush your teeth while listening to some happy music to get you going in a cheerful and energetic mood. Dance and (quietly) sing while brushing your teeth. Life is FUN!!!

Finish up, clean your nose, put on your jacket. Open the front door. Go out. Close front door.

And you're done! A sure-fire way to start your day in a disciplined and still a very cheerful way.

I suggest seeing the futility in both action and inaction, not only with just starting your day off, but everything.

If there's no point in anything, then there's no reason to get stressed, nor a reason for or against.
Well... Sure, on a cosmic scale there is no purpose, but that's the beauty of being human: we aren't 'the cosmos', we're humans, we can make our own purpose. And since we're... well... alive, can't we just make that our purpose to start with? We're alive, so let's live life already. Let's be happy, make others happy, and live life to the fullest.
So then, it isn't very futile for me, as a human being, to be happy... Or to wake up, for that matter. How can I live properly without waking up properly?

Gosh, I can't imagine waking up like that... *alarm clock goes off* 'ah.. great, another meaningless day of my meaningless futile life' >_<

It's true on a grander scheme and all, but it won't make for a good morning ritual

I didn't do homework in school, my grades are great.

I'm not doing homework in highschool, my grades are not so great. This is however the product of me bringing a laptop to school and surfing/playing on it all the time, rather than me not doing homework.

The only stuff that actually matters in school is assignments and following the class.

Set yourself a routine. It sucks to get one started sometimes, but it will really help in the long run.

Decide what time you need to *get* up in order to do everything you need to get done before you head off to school. If you need to move your alarm clock so it's out of reach, that's one way to get yourself out of bed. (I'm a snoozer, so I've thought about doing that.)

If you have time, leave a few minutes before you head off to school to just relax. Watch a little TV or listen to some music or just do something that will help to put you into a good mood. As far as your nose running, bring a small package of Kleenex with you so that you're not constantly sniffing all the time or have to use your shirt sleeve. You can usually buy 3 packs for a dollar, so it's not exactly going to break the bank. You could also just carry a few folded up in your pocket.

As far as homework, I was the same was... correction, am, only I don't have homework. I found it boring and would rather be doing something else with my time. If you have a planner, start writing down your assignments so you know what you have to do and won't overlook something that might otherwise get left out. When you get home, grab a snack and sit down somewhere where you won't be distracted by TV, video games, etc. Work on what you need to get done, and if you need a break go ahead and take one.

In this case, seeing as you're behind on your assignments, make a list of everything that you need to do to get caught up. Do a triage on what is the most "important" (ie. worth the most points but also requires the least amount of effort) and work your way through those one by one. If you have a lot of reading to do, figure out how many pages you need to read and set a goal to read X number of pages every day.

A note about weekends: If you need to do homework on the weekends, do it first before anything else! This may not apply to you, but personally, if it's Saturday and I sit down to watch TV for an hour, I'll sit in front of that TV all day. Get done what you need to get done first and then relax. Again, give yourself a break if you're feeling burned out, but give your break a time limit and stick to it. Set your alarm clock to go off if need be (but don't forget to reset it when you go to bed Too many close calls or late appointments due to that!).

The best way to have some energy for the day is to get up early enough to eat a light snack, even just a few bites and then do some light exercises. This gets your metabolism going and you might even feel like eating a light to moderate breakfast afterwards. Do as much of your work at school as you can. You are more accustomed to doing school work at school and so it seems like less of a chore.

When you get home, eat a snack and do some of your school work. Then you can dick around and play games or whatever for awhile, then do some more work at the end of the night and maybe do some pleasure reading if you have time. If you get this routine down to a comfortable habit, you can start getting up early enough to do a more substantial work out, take a shower, and even get any work that you didn't manage to finish done before leaving for school. The important thing is even if you play video games, don't stay up later than you know you should doing it. All it will accomplish is make it harder to get up in the morning which sets a negative precedent for the rest of your day.

The ability to happily respond to any adversity is the divine.

try to do some of your homework during classes where you dont have to pay a lot of attentino. i know this sounds like a bad idea, but it works. i have psychology...the only thing we really do is take notes and talk about experiences and stuff. when im not taking notes i usually j ust do my homework for my next period class if it isnt a lot (less than an hour assignment). Some classes i never have homework for really because there is no homework grade, its just for practicing or whatever and since i already know the material i can just not do it and spend my time on other stuff that i like. Procrastination also works very well for me. i know that for some people this is horrible though. For me, if i put off a paper to the last minute i will be more stressed when writing it, but it turns out better. I have the same problem with eating as you do. in the summer i had to force myself to eat before swim practice ot herwise iwould throw up during swimming because of an empty stomach. In school i dont eat before school and im not allowed to eat in my first period class so i usually just get a bagel from the school for my second period class at around 9:10. im pretty hungry by then! hmm im not sure what else..ill think of stuff later

I always find that a shower in the morning is great. Not only does it force you to get up earlier, but it leaves you refreshed and ready to face the day.
