Tell me how well YOU think you eat

Not nutrition-wise, but as in do you eat "like a king" or "like a bum?" (I guess you could call it richness?) After talking to my friends about what they eat at home, I've realized that I eat much better than they do, and that I'm lucky to eat the way I do. It sounds like they live off of ramen, soda, and the occasional sandwich or pizza, whereas getting a balanced 3 course meal at my house is a boring night.

I'm lucky to have a mother who is a former home ec teacher. I get a roast or steak at least once a week (we raise our own beef,) some sort of starch (like a potato or rice,) a hot vegetable (like peas or green beans), a salad, and often some other side dish. I realize that this is extravagant for some people, as my mother said, "you eat every night what most people call a 'Sunday dinner.'"

So I ask you, Dreamviews, how well do you think you eat? Also, it'd be nice to have an example of what a typical meal is like at your home.

I ate similar to you when I lived at home. Definitely took it for granted and (kind of) miss it now!

My lunches are good because they are provided at work, my breakfast is almost non-existent (which is very bad, I know), and my dinner is good on the majority of days when I decide to cook for myself. I usually cook something with rice/noodles, veggies, tofu, eggs, and occasionally some meat.

I eat pretty well. Back when my dad was alive, he was a cook, and we had "Sunday Dinners every night" as well (and now I'm still trying to work off some of the extra pounds. ). But now, momz and I have had to kind of take up his slack. I've learned to cook pretty well in the past couple of years, and so has she. We have good, 3 course meals about 4-5 times a week (though sometimes she over-does it and makes more than is necessary). I usually do the cooking/grilling on the weekends. Aside from the days where we eat together, we're usually busy doing our own thing and it's a free-for-all, in which case I'll usually stir-fry myself something up with whatever I have in the pantry.

My main downfall is that I don't usually eat breakfast. I've just never been a breakfast eater. Don't know why. I have to force myself to even eat something like a banana in the mornings. Sometimes I'll drink these nutri-meal shakes, which are good and good for me, but I only drink those every now and then.

I usually eat a ceasar salad or something light for lunch, but every now and then I'll get some wings from the bar, which I just space out and eat on over the course of a few hours, until dinner.

I'm poor, and I'm a vegetarian, so that doesn't leave many options open for me. The amount of food I eat already is generally pretty low, but the quality is always great. I always have breakfast, which is some variation of cereal, eggs, and toast/bagel every morning, and we have loads of different kinds of juice here, which I rate as being clearly superior to soda (and I don't drink soda anyways, convenient I say). I wouldn't say I "eat like a king" because I have to consider what goes well with my financial situation, but I do at least think that I eat well enough, quality and nutrition-wise.

I have always had a horrific diet. When I was growing up, my folks cooked most of the time and it was decent. Other nights, I would make a sandwhich or have cereal.
When I got married and left home, money was very bad. I preferred my smokes over food. I always made sure my (now ex) husband and kids had plenty to eat- he because he worked and needed his strength, my kids because they were growing and needed the nutrion. Often, I didn't eat at all.
When I remarried, I became a Doctors wife- the flip side from poverty. But I discovered I have a bit of a food phobia. I know it's not rational. When I have my kids with me, they eat too well. My 16 year old son has almost always been the cook of the family since he was about 10 and insisted on the privilege. They eat breakfast and lunch at school and at night and on weekends they have balanced meals. But, I still go without most of the time.
My hubby keeps me on a short financial lease. I get $200. a week for food, gas, toiletries, cleaning supplies and the kids' allowances. I don't trust our food for the most part. The kitchen and fridge were always dirty and I gave up on trying to keep them clean. I kept a tiny fridge for my personal food and drink items.
Now that I don't have my kids at this time, I eat fast food mostly or prepackaged food items (tv dinners, ramen etc).
I still get $200. a week but most of that is spent on gas driving for visitation with my kids, to child support and cigarettes.
