      Tell me about Bland/Soft Diets

I've been researching foods that I should be able to digest more easily with my gallbladder and duodenitis problems.

I came across a webpage with these recommendations:

"Now, for the list of foods to avoid:

Veggies: All raw vegetables in addition to peas, beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, onions, cauliflower, cucumbers, green pepper, corn, turnips and sauerkraut, tomato juice, V-8 juice

Fruits: Dried fruits, berries, figs, citrus fruits, orange juice, pineapple juice, grapefruits

Starches: Whole, coarse grains/cereals, Breads/crackers with seeds, potato chips, fried potatoes, wild rice

Protein:Highly seasoned meats, cured meats, smoked meats, corned beef, luncheon meats, hotdogs, sausage, polish sausage, pepperoni, strong cheeses, peanut butter

Fats/Desserts: Highly seasoned dressings with seeds, pickle relish, all sweets/desserts containing nuts, coconut or citrus fruits or berries, fried pastries, doughnuts

Misc.: Caffeine (Coffee, Tea, Colas, Orange Soda, DR.PEPPER, Excedrin), Garlic, BBQ Sauce, Chili Sauce, Chili Powder, Horseradish, Pepper (Red, Black, White), Pickles, Seed Spices, Olives, Popcorn, Nuts, Coconut, Aspirin, Alcoholic Beverages"

What the heck is left for me to eat lol AND have nutritional value.

      ROFL!!

I guess it's not as bad as I supposed. I googled "bland soft diet" and I can have things like cooked veggies (carrots, green beans and the likes- no broccoli, cauliflower or "gassy" veggies) and mashed potatoes. I can have certain fruit juices and soft fruit like applesauce. And meat can't be tough, stringy, smoked, barbaqued, dried...
All seasoning has to be practically bland.

      *Blah*

I think it would be easier to continue suffering and just take antacids and stuff

Try eating psyllium fibre. It's really good for improving digesting. Makes me take huge chunky (healthy) shits. Clears out your bowels and stuff.

Thanks. I'll have to look into psyllium fibre. I've never heard of it.
The lady who does my parenting class is going to start helping me with a lot of these things as part of my "life skills".
I want to start cultivating some good habits now so they'll carry over to when I get my kids back.
