Question do you know about spar bowling

spar bowling is a sport that my Boy Scout Troop plays. It is a ton of fun although it is a little dangerous. Here are the rules

      PLAYING FIELD

The spar bowling lane is a clearly marked rectangle 20-feet by 40-feet bisected with a midline to form two 20-feet by 20-feet pitches. However, any reasonable and agreed upon lane size can be used.

      PINS AND SPARS

There are two types of pins: End Pins – 5 for each team and King Pin – 1. End pins are logs 6-inches to 8-inches in diameter and 18-inches to 24-inches long. The King Pin is a log 12-inches to 16-inches in diameter and 30-inches to 36-inches long.

Five End Pins are placed on upright and evenly spaced on each team’s end line (short side of the rectangle) with the King Pin placed on upright in the center of the lane on the midline.

A maximum of four spars are used and shared by both teams. Spars are logs 2-inches to 4-inches in diameter and 12-inches to 16-inches long.

      PLAY

      1. The object of the game is to be the team to knock over then King Pin after clearing all End Pins from their opponents’ pitch.
      2. Either team begins by bowling (i.e., throwing) each of their spars, one at a time, from the end line in an attempt to knock over the End Pins.
      3. If any End Pins remain standing in the opponents pitch and the bowling team knocks down the King Pin with a spar, then the bowling team immediately loses.
      4. Any End Pins knocked down with a spar must be thrown over the midline by the defending team after all bowling team’s spars have been thrown. A spar is considered over the midline if any part of it crosses the midline marker.
      5. The bowling team must then reset the End Pins. The End Pins must be reset in their pitch on either end of the pin by tipping the End Pin upright at the position it landed in the pitch. If an End Pin is thrown beyond the end line then it may be reset anywhere on the end line.
      6. The next team then begins to bowl from their end line.
      7. End Pins within the opponents’ pitch must be knocked down before any End Pins on the end line.
      8. Play continues in the same manner, with the bowling line becoming the closes End Pin within the bowling team’s pitch.
      9. Once a team knocks down all of the End Pins in the opponents’ pitch, then they must knock down the King Pin with any remaining spars to win. However, the opposing team may collect any spars outside of the pitch and also attempt to knock down the King Pin to steal the win.
