      Dream too crazy to RC

I've only been working really seriously at LD's for about a month, and I've already attained lucidity once, but since that sudden break in the case I haven't had any more success. Last night I tried really hard at a MILD, repeating a mantra over and over out loud before I fell asleep until I just faded out, but I still didn't succeed. When I woke up I couldn't remember anything about my dream, but then I thought about it harder and remembered basically all of it, and I realized that it was a totally crazy dream. I think at one point I didn't even have a real body. It was just so insane. But I'm wondering: Is it possible that a dream could be so crazy that you can't RC? Because obviously we train ourselves to RC during our waking hours when we have regular things to RC with (pinching your nose, checking the time, looking in mirrors, etc.), but if none of those sorts of things are available in the dream, how are you supposed to RC to become lucid? Especially if you convince yourself that that crazy universe is just the way the universe is and always has been, you know? Last night just really threw me for a loop.

I think doing reality checks regularly through waking hours is only to get us into the habit and then it transfers into your dreams as something you generally do. If you do a reality check then you must be thinking about dreams so it is also to do with awareness. If you are more aware as a person then that transfers into your dreams and sometimes you all of a sudden realise that something isnt right. As soon as you get that feeling clear your mind and do a reality check without letting your it wander and convince you thateverything is real. When you are doing your physical check, like pinching your nose, dont forget to be thinking about it as you do it and question yourself and your surroundings about how you got there, what you did before and am I supposed to be here/does everything look in its place. If it doesnt make any sense then do somemore reality check, you are dreaming XD

I hope that made sense and wasnt to hard to read, I know what I am trying to say lol, even though you probably know all this already
Just keep trying, keep it up and be patient, it will pay off

Every now and then, i always give myself a false positive and tell myself, 'i am dreaming!' then i let myself feel happy and imagine what i would do and all of the fun i would have. If you also make a habit of saying'no im not freaming' that will also carry over to your dreams. Remember to always actually question whether you are awake or not, and always look around and become more aware of your surroundings.

Interesting technique. Makes sense though. Thanks for the tip.

Something similar happened to me a few nights ago. I was riding a alligator around a lake and I remember thinking "This is so crazy, must be a dream", but it was thrashing around crazy so I couldn't do a RC. Instead I was just like "WHoooo sweet, this rocks because I can't get hurt!".
