      why wouldn't it work?

ok so this morning i was having a dream that i was from the future and came back to the past to find a way to stop a deadly manmade virus from originally becoming lose and spreading. i somehow woke up during the dream momentarily and was in SP. i immediatly closed my eyes and was back in the dream. when i was back in the dream after a little bit i remembered (by way of remembering my awakening) that i was dreaming. the second i thought that to myself, almost before the thought actually finished, i was back in my bed in SP. i thought "damn...maybe this time..." and fell back to sleep right away. again i remembered while i was in my dream that i had awoken and was now dreaming, and just like before, as soon as i realized that i was in a dream, i again was back in my bed. the thing was...i hadn't had enough time to actually get excited about it, as the thoughts had barely processed by the time i woke up, with no time to get excited or even stabalize. this happened for the remainder of physical time (30-45 minutes) and dream time (which ended up being YEARS). i woke up for the final time and got pissed and confused as to why this happened, and was hoping someone might have an answer.

It could be a dream schedule timing situation.

You're dream may have ended because your sleep schedule moved out of a REM stage, which is the sleep stage responsible for dreaming. Each time you would try to re-enter the dream, your brain would kick you out, with its own intentions to transition to an NREM sleep stage.

As far as I understand, lucid dreams are limited to the narrow windows in the sleep cycles that are REM stages. Typically, the longest REM stage of the night is up to an hour long, and the shortest is a few minutes. I have a suspicion that the brain can be a little flexible, in that you can enter REM sleep even during a period in the night where normally it would be NREM, but I suspect this flexibility does have its limits, and you may have reached those limits. And my suspicion is just that -- a suspicion.

yeah i was thinking about that...but in the dream days or weeks would pass and i would remember i had "just awoken". it was weird...like being able to percieve two different timelines simultaniously while one moves fast and the other slow. thanks for the thought!!! =]

Well, it is 9pm. Everyone goes to sleep early so then can LD. haha... plus, many people here are more or less on the side of "novice", so they aren't that experienced, thus, they dont give advise.

Personally, Im not to experienced. However, I have done a TON of research about LD, OBE, Techniques, Solutions, The Brain, Chemistry, Conscious, Subconscious, SuperConscious, the mind, the body, sleep, nutrition, etc etc. - You know how people say "Im like a human sponge, I absorb and learn everything"? ..well, Im like a freckin ShamWow! hahaha
