WILD : Lie on my side or lie on my back ?

      Hello,

      Another question :

I really cant seem to properly concentrate while lying on my back.

I prefer to sleep on my side, but does it hinder SP and then onwards to a LD ?

I saw little posts on this that answers my questions.

      Thanks !

I haven't had a successful WILD yet, but this is what I've read...you should lay whichever way is most comfortable for you. If you're uncomfortable then it'll be hard for you to fall asleep, which is the whole point after all!

Jimmy2times is correct. Lie on whatever position is most comfortable. So whatever position you usually fall asleep in.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

I actually find it really easy to reach SP on my back but I have also gone into it on my stomach. I've never tried it on my side so I don't really know what to tell you, other than just sleep how you normally would. The point isn't reaching SP, your main goal is simply falling asleep. SP is somewhat irrelevant to Lucid Dreams because whether you experience it or not, your goal is to fall asleep. Some people don't even experience SP. Hope this helps.

SP = Sleep Paralysis. It's something that happens to everyone before falling into a deep sleep that can consist of very intense feelings and hallucinations. Most people are asleep too much to notice this while sleeping, but sometimes some people experience it without notice it, waking up abruptly before falling asleep from " a falling sensation " to hearing things.

I have best luck achieving SP in my La Z Boy recliner. I haven't had a WILD, but I know SP is a close step to a WILD...( I lay on my back in recliner, but sleep in bed on my side )

Yeah from lots of experience WILDing, and trying various ways of positioning my body, I would say lay however you want. Want to WILD? Go to sleep, knowing the whole time behind conscious thought that you are about to enter a dream.

The point to a WILD is to fall asleep, or to have your body fall asleep anyways. Lay in whatever position is most comfortable for you, even move around if you have to. Really, you want to fall asleep as you would any other night, so do and move as you normally would, all the while staying mentally aware.

If you find yourself unable to reach SP within 15-20 minutes, I'd say it's a failed attempt. Keep at it, experiment, and you'll find a series of tricks that work for you and your body. It's important to remember that everyone is a little different; as you can see in the thread, some people can't reach paralysis on their side, some not on their backs.

I think a big part of why everyone says to sleep on their backs is because in some cases, depending on your hallucinations, it may be the most comfortable during the experience (but not leading up to it, necessarily). The feeling of something heavy sitting/laying on you is quite common and I'd imagine having it press down on your chest would be the most tolerable, rather than awkwardly pushing down on your side, or your back if you sleep on your stomach. However, I've experienced SP in all positions and I find each one reacts differently and will give me different hallucinations and sensations. Your body may react differently also. As I said, experiment!

      Good luck.

It depends. If you have an easy time falling asleep, but a hard time maintaining focus/ awareness, you should WILD in a specific position (or even a specific location). This helps remind you and strengthen your intent.

If you have a hard time falling asleep, you should WILD in your normal sleeping position. You don't want yourself to be uncomfortable or overly distracted.
