      Question Is this normal?

Most people, in terms of lucid dreaming, have various methods of attaining Lucidity. Some are more credible than others, but whatever works, right? But what if you don't use any method? What if you're never had to TRY to LD?
That's where I'm at. I have lucid dreams at least once a night (generally). I don't perform reality checks of any sort during this time: I just know I'm dreaming. My question is: Is this normal?
Anybody have something to share to that affect?

      Yeah, you're a natural. We're all jealous

It's not common but still fairly "normal." I vaguely recall that LaBerge in the book ETWOLD gave a statistic of how many people are naturals. I don't remember the number exactly but I think it was less than 10%. I think he also did I study and found that almost everyone has had at least lucid dream in their life. But only naturals like you and practitioners like many of us on DV can do it consistently.

The most common story I hear about naturals is that they develop the talent as young children to escape nightmares. Is that the case for you? What were your earliest lucid dreams like?

I've also read about people achieving the state where they can lucid dream every night. Lucid dreaming is still quite new and there isn't anyone who has practised it for a lifetime, but i guess after some decades of lucid dreaming you start having them pretty every night.

I think my earliest lucid dreams started as ways to escape dreams I didn't like. Like...if someone was chasing me, I'd realize that Hey, I don't like this, what can I do? and just kind of go with it. I'd take off flying, or beat the crap out of them (which would obviously be a dream. I'm not even remotely strong. :/ ). I just...knew that I was dreaming.

I'm actually somewhat new in a way to the idea of lucid dreaming. I always knew I had a special 'gift', but I didn't know until last year that there was actually a term for it. Hence the "Is this normal?". I was shocked yesterday when I found this website, an ENTIRE website, dedicated to LD. Who knew?

Yeah, I'm trying to imagine a website devoted to walking or breathing. It'd be quite a surprise. Well, welcome to DV and we hope to stay a while.

Hah, thanks Jimmy. ^^ And yeah I've been getting that a lot here...I just want to find a way to help others figure it out. I feel like I'm supposed to do something with what I've got, you know?

Yeah that's a good thing. People like you are the reason I've made as much progress with lucid dreaming as I have, so thanks! Haha!

I understand, and I wouldn't blame you if you did hate me. And believe me, I'd share it if I could. I'm going to do some little tests sometime soon to see if there's any sure fire way to obtain lucidity. I really want to help people with what I've got. Its kind of a waste otherwise.

AshRay, do you find you are very skeptical as a person? Do you generally accept things people tell you, or do you find that you have to figure out things on your own to believe them?

here's my theory on natural LDers... for those of us that believe in reincarnation.

i believe that talent and skill are carried over from one life time to the next, and so my thought would be that you practiced LDing in another lifetime and mastered it there, and that natural talent carried over into your current life. So you've already done all the hardwork, now its time to do some REAL exploration have fun!

edit: P.S. i am also jealous of your natural talent :p

I generally believe people fairly easily, but its very difficult to lie to me in general anyway. So...no I'd say I'm not very skeptical. Why do you ask?
Nikkonic, I like you're theory on reincarnation. Very interesting and original, I must say I've heard nothing like it.

Most natural LD'ers think for themselves, I'm just trying to find traits that are common amongst a friend who can also naturally LD.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

Welcome to DV! ^_^ Man, I wish I could have lucid dreams every night. :< What's weird with me is that I often know that I have super powers in my dreams but I don't think that it's a dream or I just don't think to go out of the dreams plot. >.<

Kaira I too have superpowers in my dreams. That is kind of different, but cool at the same time. Try going outside the plot sometime (fun stuff).
Well Rathez, what would you like to know?

Actually, that's not true. It's debut in the world of modern science was relatively recent, but it's history goes back several thousand years, to the dream yoga practices common in ancient Tibet.

As for the question, it depends on your definition of normal. There's certainly nothing wrong with it, if that's what you mean. A small percent of people just dream that way naturally

Describe your overall personality. Are you confident in yourself, are you shy? Are you out going? Are you afraid to speak up about something?

What sort of hobbies do you have, what subjects are/were good at in school?

Thanks, but they were both pretty lame. In both dreams I decided to do the nose pinch RC and became lucid, but I woke up right after. But hey, at least I'm making progress!

Well, I'm pretty confident most of the time, pretty out going (major people person), and I'm not afraid to speak my mind. Everybody says I'm exceptionally nice, but I don't really see it so I don't know if that really counts. I'm a fantasy writer, a musician that plays multiple instruments, a music addict, an anime obsessor, an avid reader, and a crappy artist (but hey, I try). I'm always the problem solver and leader when people need me. And I've always been good in classes that involve languages or reading. Anything involving the arts really. Anything else? (Like I said, I'm not shy. )
