My first time in SP...and a question about it!

So I have a custom alarm that I've been using that rings for 5 seconds then stops so I don't have to move to turn it off. I do this so I can wake up and try to DEILD. Well last night I finally actually made it to SP for the first time! I had a really really strong urge to swallow, which is what kept screwing me up before, so all I was really focused on was not swallowing (which goes against what most people have said on these forums, but I guess to each his own ). Before I knew it, I could hear a loud rumbling sound and my whole body was vibrating. It kind of felt like I was riding on a train or something. This lasted about 10 seconds or so, but then I got way too excited since I never made it that far before. It faded before I saw any HH or anything like that.

While all that craziness was going on, I wasn't really sure what to think about. Should I be trying to visualize a dream? Or should I just let my thoughts wander?

Just try to keep your mind in a state of calm relaxed awareness. Trying to do anything too much can just get in your way. By focusing on staying calm and being aware of anything you experince, you willl notice the different stages you go through (sleep paralysis, hypnagogic imagery, dream/image flashes and then the dreamscene forming) without getting too drawn into any one, which can make you lose consciousness.

So in short let your thoughts wander, but make sure there's a part of you that is watching them wander so you don't get too absorbed in those thoughts and fall asleep.

It normally takes two or three waves of those vibrations before I can really enter a dream. They will come and go a few times. Just wait it out and be patient. If you are relaxed and aware, the dream will come.

Yeah I posted that almost two weeks ago and I still haven't been able to get that far again. I was getting close the other night, but some stupid cats outside starting making noise and ruined it. After the SP faded, I immediately got up and started writing down the previous dream and how the SP felt in my DJ, but next time if I can stay calm enough I'll wait a few minutes if it fades. Thanks for the advice guys!

Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Try not to analyze what is happening, just enjoy it and wait it out. It probably doesn't last for too long, although I can't say so for myself as I have only done one WILD on accident. Also, it's OK to swallow.

      I hope I helped!

Well that's actually pretty much I was doing since I didn't really know what I should focus on. So I won't change anything there, except try not to so excited. As far as swallowing, I can feel when I'm getting very close to SP, which is when I get the strong urge to swallow. Every time I just swallow and try to go on, that feeling goes away and I feel more awake. I try not to think about it too much, but maybe I am.

      I appreciate the advice!

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Well, one thing I can tell you: you can't always trust your instincts in any state beyond waking consciousness, including SP. Just because you are feeling more awake doesn't mean you are. Or thinking doing something will wake you up doesn't mean it will. For example, you may feel that opening your left eye will wake you up. In fact, this isn't correct. It will increase vividness and possibly put you in a new location. Just defy instincts in dreams and you will have better experiences.

Hmm...that's interesting. I didn't really think of it like that. Thanks!
