idea on how to induce, good or bad?

Hi there I'm new and still trying to get lucid

I did it once but freaked out and woke up because things kept changing around I noticed it was a dream.

i have heard that recalling dreams is important to notice dream signs and do a reality check that is sort of a habitual response

What if I just form a habit to reality check something that sorta has to be in EVERY dream instead of looking for something specific?

Like my left hand? I wrote dreaming? On my left hand above the thumb and every time I notice my left hand I'm trying to make it a habit to reality check and ask: " How'd I get here?"

Think this will work or not? I'm having trouble recording dreams as I am a VERY deep sleeper and I cant have 5 alarms that go off ever few hours my girlfriend would not be happy.

Thanks for the read and any responses I get!

EDIT: also last night i was attempting wild with saying " i am entering a dream" and i heard VERY clearly a friend of mine speak to me, that jolted me awake. think i was real close?

      welcome!

your dream recall is crucial. start a dream journal. set 3 alarms and tell your girlfriend to get over it

but if not, just focus on recalling dreams as you wake up. do not move and try to think back into the dream, then write it down immediately. you may want to wake up 15 minutes earlier or go to bed earlier as well. there are several topics in the dream recall forum that will help with recall.

looking at ones hands is a tried and true technique that works for most people, it's the remembering to do it in dreams that is difficult. try out your idea for about a month and see if it has any impact. each person's style may be different, but this type of technique has produced some results for me in the past.

wilding at night, as you are going to bed, is generally accepted to be more difficult than WBTB. you were having an audio hallucination, which is def a stepping stone on the path to a successful wild, but you must remain calm and learn to enter the dream.

good luck, keep reading the tutorials and threads on the forum!
