      lazybrainssss??

So I've only been trying to train myself to lucid dream for a few weeks. I'm reading LaBerge's book and it's been super helpful. I've gotten really good at dream recall and practicing state testing.

My problem is that I have trouble actually taking control of my dreams. I will sometimes be faintly aware that I'm dreaming because of weirdness in the environment but can't seem to kick my mind out of passivity and into action! It's like my "dream self" is perfectly content to let the dream take its own course. I'm not sure how to get past this roadblock...

Any advice would be great! Thanks!

This is common in the beggining, and later on this will be the only way you dream! Imagine waking up each morning and realizing (Holy macarony that was all a dream!)

Sort of like you would wake up now after reading this post and know that it was just a dream, but you were still aware, just not lucid. o. O

Yeah you get a little paranoid.

But as you can see that kind of vivid/ instinct aware kind of dreams is a good sign that you are on the right track.

I struggled with the same "problem" for a little while, but then I said "NO I am in control and I control what is going to happen!".
And the next time I got into this dreamy state I noticed the hazyness, but had just enough awareness (for a moment) to realize that I was in control.
So then I started to look at my hands, rub them, clap them, do a summersault, backflips, you name it.. Just to ground myself in a dreambody.

It is easy to forget that we don't actually have a body in our dreams, and if we don't use one actively, how are we then supposed to control ourselves?
We use a body in the physical world to experience and control, so we should do the same in a dream.

When I realized this fact, my dreams got much more enjoyable and experienceable <- yeah look at that word.

And then there is of course the challenge of not getting influenced by dream characters and previous dream scenarios, that is why the dream body grounding is a good plan of action. Because when you are done, you are basically aware enough to realize that you don't are in need of any dream chararacters (unless you want to) and also aware that your previous dream scenario, emotions etc. isn't important.

All this takes a little practise of course, but you will get there.

Also keep in mind that this is easier in the later morning, since your logical areas of the brain gets more and more active.

      Good luck and sweet dreams!

Thank you for that excellent advice, MasterMind! I will definitely give it a try!
