      Meditation Techniques...

Meditation is the act of calming your mind and focusing on an object, place, or thing. If you want to learn how to meditate, googling it is the best option to find out what works for you. I suggest googling something like, "meditation techniques" in order to pick the best option.

What works for me is listening to "trance" music. It is usually instrumentals and no talking in it.

      Some meditation techniques include:
      1) Sitting in a cross legged position or comfortable position for 30min, focusing on a happy place or thing with your eyes closed...
      2) Walking meditation:: walking meditation is where you focus on walking in a line back and forth and focusing on a "happy" place or thing. This is similar to pace-ing...for 30min...eyes open of course!
      3) Listening to trance/instrumental music

These are the three different techniques I have tried that work for me. Try them and let me know how it goes!

      Sincerely,
      ~Icy

I use the term quite differently. If one take the definition of an environmental acquisition system of a living organism, one has two primary states: Functional and Not functional.

The not functional state may be due to design at a particular time, or it may be due to dysfunction.

Now, every environmental acquisition system of a living organism is a crafting system. It makes with what it has acquired from the environment that which is needed for survival.

The human mind is no different. Therefore, I use the term meditation to infer a functional state, a crafting state--not a dysfunctional state.

For example: the work I did on the Delian Quest, The figures with the equations are the results of meditation. I simply use the term to enforce the definition of mind, not to negate it. This is how one should view every action which they perform, does it promote life, or demote it?

You use long slow deep breaths to get a wave of relaxation, but you shouldn't do them throughout your entire meditation. A lot of people use their breath as an anchor to quiet their conscious by simply focusing on it.
I don't simply focus on something when I meditate though. I might focus on something for the first 5minutes or so to quiet my conscious, but then I just focus on my subconscious thoughts. Your subconscious mind is always bringing your attention to random thoughts. Normally whenever a thought comes up that you show interest in your conscious latches on to it and starts thinking more thoroughly about the subject. During meditation you don't want your conscious latching on to those thoughts, just observe them. Once you start to get better and better you can learn to guide these thoughts and even ask your subconscious questions. Lately I've been meditating for 20minutes or so and then I'll think of different questions to pose and letting my subconscious answer. It's pretty interesting the answers you get sometimes.
Also I prefer classical music or binaural beats if I want to listen to music. But yea anything without lyrics will work.
lucidipedia has a couple good videos that describe meditation in the pro section.

thats why i want to meditate, sub-con mind has alot of potential and unexplored qualities. i believe your sub-con is connected to a universal conciouseness where all the answer you seek are you just have to be able to use it correctly to get what you want. alot of people will think this is crazy

I also try to have at least a 10-minute meditation session at least once a day. I was already planning on checking out the book you mentioned from the library very soon. I prefer to leave the new age rhetoric out of meditation, and I don't worry about what position I sit in. I have been meditating for a few months and have noticed improvements in being calm and handling stress and anxiety. My goal is to be able to have more awareness and serenity in living out the day-to-day moments of life. I am interested in trance states and that is also some of the motivation behind meditating... I can usually achieve a "numb" feeling in about 10 minutes. When I meditate, I focus on breathing or the light display behind my eyelids, or listen to soothing music.

Also, I believe that meditation builds focusing ability which helps with the WILD technique.

Meditation is great. I use it to visualize my desired reality or to clear my mind. It also makes me more conscious.
