went to bed, went straight to dream then experienced sleep paralysis ?wtf?

I had the weirdest thing happen last night. I took 10mg of melatonin and 100mg of 5-htp(i have insomnia like crazy and take this on days i want to sleep good) so an hour later i went to bed laid there listening to an interview about lucid dreams..something that was on radio and on youtube... and before i knew it i was in a dream, vivid as life, and amazing in everyway..felt everything and woke up after floating away from the dream..weird i know. i laid there, looked at the clock an only 20-25 minutes past since i went to bed(that is what freak me out cause i went right into a dream!) i lay there say 10 minutes still as heck thinking damn i was just in a dream and then i started feeling really odd, legs and everything started shaking and i closed my eyes knowing that I was going into SP, scared as hell, yes i was i opened my eyes and saw someone in my room that wasnt really there and scared the crap out of me. and then i was out of SP. I tried again to get back into SP and i fell asleep and went to normal vivd dreams.
I'm sorry for writing a crazycrap load of stuff but i'm puzzled as heck as to what happened.
This is the second time I knew i was in SP but first time time going right into a dream then SP. has this happen to anyone else? and could i have had an obe or lucid if i tried something during SP?
any help at all would really help, thank you for reading!

      Trippy!

I recently had sleep paralysis INSIDE a lucid dream. That wasn't the scary part, I witnessed my fear right in front of me during the lucid dream but I was stuck in SP and couldn't do anything about it.

To answer your question, LD and SP are somewhat related to each other. I have had Lucid Day dreams during SP if that makes any sense lol. I think it's all the matter where your consciousness is at, either in the mind or physical perception.

Simple math... you went to sleep and LD'd using a form of MILD. The exhilaration probably woke you up then you became hyper-aware of the sleep process and experienced SP. Our brainwaves slip into and out of Theta/ Delta and Alpha at different times during the sleep process.
