      Getting Back to Sleep...

After everything I've read, I think that WILD is the thing for me. I know it's tough, but I'm definitely willing to go the extra mile if it means that I have such a substantially higher chance of getting lucid whenever I want.

Every night I try doing a WILD, but usually just fall asleep and wake up in the morning cursing myself. Any tips for not falling asleep?

My second question concerns getting back to sleep. The reason I try WILD BEFORE bed is because every time I try a WBTB I can't actually get back to bed. It's annoying. It doesn't matter whether I'm up for 15 minutes of 15 seconds, I'm pretty much awake for the rest of the night. I've tried waking up earlier in the night and later in the night and nothing seems to work. Does anyone else have this problem--or had this problem? How did you overcome it?

      I guess that's it...
      Thanks!

You could try to make yourself hyper, or watch a really long movie. Just don't move when your body falls asleep, ok?

Yes I have definitly had this problem, I too am a newbie and havn't had a full lucid dream really, Ive had like a 2 second experience but thats it. I share the same problem as you though, When I wake up I stay up normally for about 15 minutres or so, just reading lucid stuff, and then I get back to bed, and just pretty much lock my mind onto lucid. The problem is I cant get to sleep after that, I was almost thinkin its maybe because I was concentrating to hard on it? but yea thats my experience with it. The reason I dont stay up for like an hour like they say you should is because I normally would wake up at about 5:00 maybe 6:00, this time I'm generally getting up for school and if I stayed up for an hour I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to get back to bed after staying up that long. But hey Im still trying you never know. My advice is just to keep at it.

I find i fall asleep once i let my mind go, let it wander. I have to stop analysing things.. If i'm directing my thoughts i can't really get to sleep.

I basically have the same problems as you. I think i need to learn to observe them but not interfere. That's my 2c.

I have the same issues. Once I'm awake, I usually have to stay awake for at least a couple hours before I can fall back to sleep. And in order to fall asleep at night, I have to let my mind wander.

I've read a lot of techniques involving concentration exercises like counting and saying "I'm dreaming" until you fall asleep or visualizing, etc. I don't know how people do it. I just end up counting for hours with my eyes closed and as soon as I stop counting, I drift off.

I recently bought a program that makes brainwave entrainment CD's which work without headphones. I'm planning to test them out with WBTB and WILD soon. Hopefully, they'll at least help me fall back to sleep faster and maybe even manage my first WILD...

      So true.

I'd like to be able to do it without pills or cd's, in the long run.

Same problem here. When I WBTB i try to keep saying stuff in my mind to induce a Lucid Dream but if I keep concentrating I can't sleep and if I don't concentrate I go to sleep. Its a tough bind, so I looked for other WBTB techniques that are easier. I am going to try HILD for a month or so. Its in the tutorial. Basically you wake up and when your boing back to sleep and are really really tired ... im too lazy ... just look in the tutorial. I tried it last night but it didn't work.

Yep Wilding can be as hard as you make it. Focuse is always essential. I know its boring to try to keep focuse when you're just laying there but anything worth achieveing is worth working hard for. Keep your Focuse up and get bored I mean really bored. When you start to reach your REM periods you will know it for sure. Feels like Rushing Energy.. Good luck.
