Lightbulb Nothing especially new here, but a potentially effective method of DILD I'm testing

My problem, plain and simple, is remembering to be aware, to question reality, etc etc. School, music, work, it all has a way of taking over.

So the other day I got a set of custom-embossed dogtags. On each tag it says EXTRACTOR. And here is my plan to use them for multiple techniques at once without needing that much readjustment to my life.

First off, they work as reality checks. Am I wearing them, am I not? Did I forget to put them on? Could I be dreaming? If I am wearing them, does the text on both read the same?

Second, they work as reminders to keep questioning reality. It's not the time it takes to do so that is the problem, it's remembering to do it in the first place. Every time I think about the necklace I take three seconds tops and do reality checks and maybe a brief session of all-day awareness. And they're effective too.

Third, it's fun to role-play. If you pretend, even believe you are something, especially a Lucid Dreamer, then it happens. That's why they say EXTRACTOR on them If you don't know what this means, go watch Inception a few times.

So there's my method. I don't believe it will work as well with bracelets or other "totems" since they're easier to get used to and ignore.

And anyway I've only been at it for two days, and have barely even worn the dogtags so far (a suit and tie doesn't exactly go well with them) but I've already had one lucid dream from this little technique. I was bending over to put a glass in the dishwasher and I tried to grab the dogtags to keep them from flopping around and they weren't there. Reality check, yadayada, lucid dream.

Give it a shot! I got mine for $8 shipped from Amazon. I'd love to hear how well this "totem" works for you.

Wow, that would be a great reality check if you seem to bend down a lot in your dreams. I do the same with my dogtags, every night when I brush my teeth, I use my hand to stop me spitting out on the in the sink. I do it even when I'm not wearing them. So if I can just get a dream where I bend over and try to hold my dogtags back, then maybe I will lucid... hm...

Anyway, keep at it, I'm sure we will all be interested in any results.

Well. Today I've been the most focused on awareness that I've ever been (but still probably not all that good by "pro" standards) so we'll see how it goes tonight. Three hours and counting.

3 hours? Is that till you go to bed or how long you have been aware? I'm going back to the old finger through palm and the memory check (where you stop and ask yourself how you got to where you are presently).

Hopefully I will at least have some sort of dream where I have a body. Most of my dreams are where I am just watching, like a ghost or camera.

Well, no luck last night. Didn't help that I didn't really even sleep much. I was on a couch. Will report back. I'm feelin' strong, and most of the time that's all it takes!

Lol. Well I got a good few dreams, and it was cool that in them I had a body, so I can see reality checks being possible if these kinds continue for me. My dream last night was where I was at home, and I was supposed to be minding my place while my parents were out. I didn't do anything they asked me, and had to dash around as they were pulling up by the house! Also there was a large wasp colored ant in my bed, which was really realistic, I was freaking out, it was massive.

I have been reality checking *does reality check* all day, so maybe I will get lucky tonight.
