      Affirmation to help lucidity.

Posted a few days ago but DV went down so the thread got deleted. ill use it as an opportunity to revise some things.

Many of you have probably read the thread about how if you really believe you will get lucid you can with very little effort like natural dreamers do (if not you should).
The problem is that if you have a hard time becomeing lucid, you will probably doubt yourself a little. So i tried the same thing for something i wouldnt doubt. That night i decided to have an awesome dream, and ended up inadvertantly thinking of one of my favorite dream scenes. that night i had the dream i thought of, and upon seeing it i became lucid. So this is a variation of what i mentioned above, except for using it for something you will not doubt if you have doubts about becoming lucid. all you do is pick something you can have 100% confidence in, from seeing a certian reoccuring dreamsign, to being as general as having a fun dream. after this visualize what you want. also keep your affirmation short, i was thinking "i will dream of x" and seeing x was enough to get me lucid, and i believe "i will dream of x and x will make me lucid" is less effective since it is long and has excess parts. in all this shouldnt take more than a few seconds, but this is all just my hypothesis so if people can test it and post results i will appreciate it.

Nice post. I have been telling the folks on here about visualization for years. Visualization, combined with affirmation and deep relaxation, is the easiest way to attain a lucid dream. When we visualize we use the same area of our brain as when we dream... the secondary visual cortices (collectively known as the cortex) This is a scientific fact.

no it takes me a few second to a few minutes, before bed, and im not even sure if it was the last thing on my mind. id say this is a form of MILD actually.

anyway i tried this for my second time, and had some success, so this seems promising for me. i became really relaxed and i felt my state of mind change, and i felt strangely optomistic. however i doubted myself and that feeling went away and i spent a minute building it back up. after that i wanted to see if i could influence what i dreamed about, so i picked out a fun dream scenario. i picked the beach and imagined giant waves, but it reminded me of storm dreams i sometimes have, which i enjoy equally as much as the tital wave dreams. i began to think of the lightning, and then figured i should concentrate on only one dream scene and switched back to the waves. so that night while i was sleeping i drempt of a monsterous lightning storm with giant lightning bolts exploding. it wasnt what i was shooting for, but it was a success as far as dreaming of something i was thinking about in that state. unfortunantly i didnt become lucid, maybe i would have if my mind stuck with the ocean.

So the visualization part does not need to be long at all, just get relaxed and have confidence that you will have an amazing dream or something like that, and then visualize what you want while you still have that confidence to influence your dreams. i think i will be able to keep using this untill i can have this mindset for having lucids like silverbullet talks about.
Also, i have not yet attempted to try this in combination with WBTB, i will attempt on the weekend. if anyone else wants to try post your results =)

oh im not sure if this matters, but the first time i did it i dont know when it was, but the 2nd time (last night) it was a fairly early dream, id say about the earliest of about 3 i remember in a 7 and a half hour night, so it is very likely this was my 1st dream. im not sure if it will always be the 1st dream but either way recall will help.
